“Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in. So then, while we [as individual believers] have the opportunity, let us do good to all people [not only being helpful, but also doing that which promotes their spiritual well-being], and especially [be a blessing] to those of the household of faith (born-again believers).”

“When life is heavy and hard to take, go off by yourself. Enter the silence. Bow in prayer. Don’t ask questions: Wait for hope to appear. Don’t run from trouble. Take it full-face. The “worst” is never the worst. Why? Because the Master won’t ever walk out and fail to return. If he works severely, he also works tenderly. His stockpiles of loyal love are immense. He takes no pleasure in making life hard, in throwing roadblocks in the way:”

“It is the Lord Who goes before you; He will [march] with you; He will not fail you or let you go or forsake you; [let there be no cowardice or flinching, but] fear not, neither become broken [in spirit–depressed, dismayed, and unnerved with alarm].”

Mary Magdalene and another woman named Mary went to the tomb to honour Jesus. An angel told them Jesus wasnʼt there because he had risen from the dead. The women became the first witnesses of Jesusʼ resurrection. Jesus had won the battle over death! He was raised to new life. Sin and death were Godʼs enemies. God won the victory over them through Jesusʼ death. The women were afraid but also filled with joy. When they met Jesus, they worshipped him at once. The religious leaders paid the guards to lie about what had happened. Jesus had said many times that he would rise from the dead. The leaders didnʼt want anyone to believe that Jesus had been telling the truth. Matthew 28: 1-15.

Desiring God’s Presence

Take a moment to think about your desires in life. Make a mental list of all of the things you want to accomplish. Think about your top priorities and where you think you should spend your time.

Now, go back over your list and consider how many of your desires included spending time with God. Did any of your accomplishments require being in God’s presence?

The writer of Psalm 42 compares himself to a deer that is longing for water. The deer is weary and parched without it, and so all it wants is to find a stream to drink from.

In a similar way, the Psalmist is weary and exhausted from life. He is under pressure and growing tired. And yet, his innermost desire is for God.

Just like the deer desires water, the psalmist’s soul desires the presence of God. He knows that the solution to his problems is not more accomplishments and praise—it’s spending time in the presence of God.

It’s not wrong to have desires and goals in life. But our foremost desire should be for God, because true satisfaction is only found in His presence.

Because God is not limited to a building or a location, we can be with Him any time we want. God is Spirit and He exists everywhere at any time. He is present right now with you.

All it takes is your desire and commitment to spend time with Him by reading His Word, talking to Him through prayer, or reflecting on His faithful character. As you draw close to Him, He is ready and willing to be close to you, and to restore your soul.

Spending time with God is a basic spiritual need of ours, but it is a powerful time that can change the course of our life and the center of who we are. Take time to be with Him now, but also come up with a plan that helps you continue to seek God every day. @youversion taken in Rio Ruidoso by @lovindeemusic

Nicodemus was searching for the truth about who Jesus was. But he didnʼt understand spiritual things. Jesus told Nicodemus that he had to be born again to enter the kingdom of God. People are born again when they believe that Jesus is Godʼs Son and follow him. The Holy Spirit makes people able to receive new life from God. Jesus is Godʼs Light. He saves those who believe in him from the power of sin and evil. Yet people who love evil donʼt want to be near Godʼs Light. They want to stay in darkness instead. One day God will judge all sin and everything that is unjust. But first Jesus offers truth, life and light for the Gentiles. @biblicaministry taken in Santa Teresa, New Mexico by @lovindeemusic

“This is how we know we’re living steadily and deeply in him, and he in us: He’s given us life from his life, from his very own Spirit. Also, we’ve seen for ourselves and continue to state openly that the Father sent his Son as Savior of the world. Everyone who confesses that Jesus is God’s Son participates continuously in an intimate relationship with God. We know it so well, we’ve embraced it heart and soul, this love that comes from God.”

“And now, friends, we ask you to honor those leaders who work so hard for you, who have been given the responsibility of urging and guiding you along in your obedience. Overwhelm them with appreciation and love! Get along among yourselves, each of you doing your part. Our counsel is that you warn the freeloaders to get a move on. Gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhausted, pulling them to their feet. Be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. And be careful that when you get on each other’s nerves you don’t snap at each other. Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out.”

In his work as priest, Jesus gave his life as a sacrifice on the cross. Those who believe in him are forgiven of their sins for ever. That is how Jesus broke the power of sin. And he broke the power of death when God raised him from the dead. In the future all of Godʼs enemies will be put completely under Jesusʼ control. In the holy tent and the temple, only the high priest could be close to God. That happened in the Most Holy Room. It was separated from other rooms by a curtain. The Most Holy Room was a copy of the place where God rules in heaven. After his resurrection, Jesus went to the real place in heaven where God rules. He remains there. He makes it possible for his followers to also be in Godʼs presence. His followers enter into Godʼs presence by believing in Jesus. Jesusʼ body is like a curtain that believers enter through. They go through it into the Most Holy Room where God is. The author of Hebrews wanted his readers to come to God boldly. They didnʼt need to be afraid of God. They were to encourage one another to stay near to God. Being forgiven of sin and being in Godʼs presence fills believers with hope. It fills them with the desire to do good works and to show love to others. @biblicaministry taken in Mount Cristo Rey, Sunland Park Nm by @lovindeemusic

Psalm 23 is about trusting in God. It describes God as a shepherd. Those who pray this psalm are described as sheep. The shepherd guides the sheep and makes sure they have everything that they need. The sheep face danger. But the shepherd is close to them. He protects them and comforts them. Many years later Jesus described himself as the good Shepherd (John 10:11). This psalm also describes other ways God can be trusted to take care of people. He provides good things for them. These things were described like a feast and like being anointed with oil. Each personʼs cup is too small to hold all that God provides. They can enjoy these blessings even while facing danger. Their enemies are nearby but they arenʼt chased by these enemies. Instead, Godʼs goodness and love follow them. They trust that they will live in Godʼs house for ever. The house of the Lord was the temple. This was a way to describe how close the speaker was to God. @biblicaministry taken in Mount Cristo Rey, Sunland Park Nm by @lovindeemusic
