Never lose your sense of awe and an appreciation for all the beauty around you. This fall I am basking in colours, hanging with giant dragonflies, noticing things in and around me, being present, serving, and being intentional about staying open and connected with the Source of all things.

When this giant dragonfly sat on the tree as I was walking out my door, my first thought was, “What in the world is that?” My daughter was quick to assume that it was an ornament from last Christmas that we had put on there.

The dragonfly was motionless, sparkling with golden shades. Dragonflies have appeared to me before, sometimes before their death or when in need of healing, so my first thought was to take her in. I gently took her by the wing, and she quickly climbed onto my hand, staying there, so still, so beautiful. Never have I seen one as big as her, and never had I seen a shape resembling a “third eye” on a dragonfly’s head. It was pure joy.

After she spent a good 8 minutes on my hand, she very organically flew up into the big sky and disappeared.

What a visit. I miss her every day.

My goal is to be open to noticing the magical things around me, to be highly attuned to the subtle, the gentle, quiet life, and to serve from there.

The truth is a complex combination of the close-to-infinite things coming together in the now. To me a rich life is when we can suspend judgement, labeling, and see how this moment has everything we need without needing to change or control or define it.

Often we hold on to unresolved emotions in an attempt to undo and experience …

make it right,

or not feel the complex and often painful feelings.

These feelings are but energy trying to pass through your energy system.

The ego, in an attempt to protect your heart from pain, creates an illusion of control by making these vibrations into concepts and views about yourself to gain a sense of power over what had occurred in the past or currently happening.

When in truth all the energy wants is to move you,

free you,

and align you with a truth greater than being in control.

Let it 🌀

It might feel uncomfortable, painful, as if part of you is dying.

Let it 🌀

See what unfolds when you let go of that illusion of control.

For National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we remember the Indigenous children who were forcibly separated from their families and communities and sent to residential schools across Canada. These institutions were part of policies intended to assimilate First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, separating them from their languages, cultures, identities and families.

Many children experienced neglect and physical, emotional and sexual abuse, and many never returned home. The generational trauma and shame of these events continue today.

September 30 honours the children who never came home, the Survivors, their families and their communities 🧡

From a spiritual perspective, today is a moment of deep collective shadow work, the importance of feeling it all and recognizing the ego that separates, discriminates, dehumanizes, and finds ways to justify abuse and violence.

Let us face the pain and shame that were hidden for years, no matter how uncomfortable.

Tomorrow, let us do better 🧡🧸

I like to slow time down as much as I can. I believe this is something we can learn to do through will and practice. Slowing down enough to really see light, shapes and movement, and to feel sensation, energy and vibration.

There is so much truth in that kind of attention. And in truth, there is love for what is, never judgment.

I think I began learning this during the seemingly boring, but deeply peaceful summers I spent with my grandma and grandpa in their village in Ukraine. They grew almost every vegetable and fruit themselves, and life moved slowly. Without knowing it, I was learning to meditate on the present moment, to observe, to feel, and to be still.

Looking back, I feel those quiet years were preparing me for becoming still enough to hear the subtle messages of people, animals and nature, and allowing nature to move through me to heal 🌿🌹

I’ve been thinking about forces of energy and how they interact. While Love is one of the most powerful forces available to us as humans, fear can be just as strong. It is a daily practice to look at what I fear and treat it with compassion, and by doing that, lessen its magnitude to allow Love to flow more freely.

When I wish the best to another human, I don’t suggest that things could be perfect for them because that’s impossible. Instead, I pray for them to have the best things in the world which transcend everything else — higher wisdom, peace, richness of spirit, claiming of abundance an power, freedom to choose, and ultimate love, so that they can handle every present moment and anything that comes their way.
