This is my grandpa - known to most as Baga…

Baga came to the USA, from Brazil, in 1963 with $1k and a hope to buy a car to bring back to sell in Brazil.

He ended up staying, working his ass off as a painter, for 5 years, sleeping in in the houses he was painting. He would go start his own painting company, which, due to his hard work, determination, hunger and honesty, wound up becoming decent (As he would humbly tell you)

He went from sleeping in the houses he was painting - to painting thousands of houses, apartment complexes, commercial buildings etc…he built a legacy that allowed him to live the American dream, that took him far beyond painting - all because his hard work, honesty, determination and love for this country.

Even though he sounds like immigrated from Brazil yesterday, when people ask him where he’s from, he’s proud to say USA.

He will be the first person to tell you (without asking) apart from the days his children and grandchildren were born, the most special day OF HIS LIFE was when he was granted American Citizenship.

People like Baga are a major source of inspiration in my life and a driving force of my work ethic today.
Stories like his are what make me proud to live and breathe America 🇺🇸
