Oily is not a complete skin analysis.

You can be oily and dehydrated.
Oily and sensitized.
Oily and acne-prone.

Happy Juneteenth 🤎✨

As a Black esthetician who specializes in melanin-rich skin, one of my favorite things about what I do is learning to read what the skin is actually saying.

Melanin-rich skin is beautiful, resilient, and incredibly unique. Our skin tells a story.

Many people immediately see discoloration, texture, or congestion and assume that’s the problem. As a practitioner, I’m looking deeper than that.

What is the skin asking for?

In both of these before and afters, the skin barriers appeared intact. The concern wasn’t a damaged barrier.

The concern was dehydration.

And dehydration can show up in so many ways:
• Dullness
• Fine lines
• Congestion
• Uneven tone
• Lack of radiance

Even within a 20-minute express facial, you can see the difference. This isn’t oil sitting on the skin. This is hydration. This is giving the skin what it was asking for.

One of the things I love most about treating melanin-rich skin is that no two faces are the same. The goal isn’t to chase perfection. The goal is to understand the skin, support it, and create a plan that works for the individual sitting in front of me.

I don’t just treat skin types.
I treat conditions.

Because when you address the condition first, the results speak for themselves. 🤎
