From the meaning behind Iskwêw to the stories woven into every song, @lovxofficial sat down with @aptnnews to share the heart behind her debut album. 🤍✨

In the interview, she opens up about the stories of womanhood that inspired Iskwêw (which means woman in Cree), and why it was so important to include songs in Cree. 🎶

Don’t miss this thoughtful conversation—check out the full interview on APTN and stream Iskwêw on your favourite platform! 💛😎🤩🎶 by @lovxofficial

Made this song with my people in mind 🫶🏾 it’s not often we hear our language being sung with modern day instrumentals and I wanted to make something we can ALL dance to.

It’s easy to look at someone’s life and assume they’re on top of the world, hitting every goal and walking into every room with their head held high.

2026 I hit a lot of milestones. I released my debut album, secured some amazing gigs and hit some cool numbers. Maci made it to CBC TOP 10, and I gained a whole new fam of supporters, listeners, mentors 💓

I also spent my days grieving.
Re-shaping.
Re-learning how to exist in a fast paced world.
I was my loneliest
Yet the most proud of myself I’ve ever been.

And the conclusion is, I am just happy to be here. This life I don’t take for granted.
And,
If you’ve read this, this far,
I’m happy you’re here too.
We all have to look out for each other out here. Speaking to my Kin, my Indigenous community, our strength was always and will forever be our willingness to help each other.
Community.
Let’s not forget how important that is.

Love you, excited to continue sharing this journey with you 💓 taken in Toronto, Canada by @lovxofficial
