The Three Musketeers: A First-Class Reunion in Liverpool ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งโค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Part 1 of 3

Aimee and I had finally decided it was time. It was time to cross the Atlantic, leave America behind for a little while, and reunite with our third Musketeer, Shay Shay, who lived all the way in Liverpool, England.
And naturally, we weren't going to do this halfway. We purchased two first-class tickets. Because if we were going to travel halfway across the world to see one of our favorite people, we might as well arrive in style!
We had barely settled into our seats when we were surprised with glasses of champagne. Before long, dinner arrived, followed by dessert, and we looked at each other with the same delighted expression.
We enjoyed our fancy dinner, chatted about seeing Shay, and eventually settled in for the long flight. Somewhere halfway across the Atlantic, the gentle hum of the plane and the comfortable first-class seats worked their magic.
We both fell asleep. And when I say we fell asleep, I mean we were OUT. The next thing we knew, we were waking up just fifteen minutes before landing. We blinked at each other, looked out the window, and realized that Liverpool was almost within reach.
The second the wheels touched the tarmac, Aimee and I did what many typical Americans apparently cannot resist doing. We applauded. Loudly. Enthusiastically. With absolutely no shame whatsoever.
The people around us turned to stare, their expressions somewhere between confusion and concern. A few looked as though they were wondering if they had accidentally boarded a plane full of theater critics.
After making our way through the airport and heading toward baggage claim, we finally saw her. Our Shay Shay. She was standing there holding a sign that read: โ€œMy Adopted American Scousers!โ€
I barely had time to read it before Shay tossed the sign aside and ran straight towards us.
โ€œYou're here! You're finally here!โ€
She threw her arms around us, and just like that, all the miles between America and England seemed to disappear. We hugged her tightly. And we hugged her some more. And then we hugged her again.

Parts 2 & 3 are in the comments below! Have a nice flight! taken in In The Air by @lowedioso

The kiss she left behindโ€ฆ

I still wear the final kiss of the woman who broke my heart. A deep red lipstick stain, branded into my memory like a permanent tattoo of pain and regret. I've washed my face until my skin burned, yet whenever I look in the mirror, I still see it.
Her kiss is still there. Not on my skin, perhaps, but somewhere deeper, somewhere water can never reach.
I remember when her lips tasted like honey, sweet enough to make me believe forever was possible. I remember how she kissed me as though I were the only man in the world, as though my heart were something she would never break.
I believed her. That is what hurts the most.
Now, those same lips taste like burnt ash in my memories. Every kiss carries the bitterness of abandoned promises, sleepless nights, and the realization that I loved someone who could walk away and leave me to gather the pieces alone.
And still, some nights, I miss her mouth. I hate myself for it.
When loneliness settles into my bones, I crave the taste of that same ash. I want one more kiss, even knowing it might destroy me all over again. I want to feel something other than the numbness that has replaced my heart. Because even pain once made me feel alive.
So I close my eyes and remember her lips against mine, pretending for a few stolen seconds that she is still here, that she hasn't become a stranger, that love hasn't become the cruelest memory I own.
But when I open my eyes, there is only my reflection. A man haunted by a kiss no one else can see.
I wonder how something so beautiful could leave such an ugly wound. How the lips that once made me feel wanted could make me afraid of ever being loved again.
Perhaps that is the cruelest thing she took from me...not her love, but my ability to believe in another.
Sometimes, I touch my mouth in the darkness and whisper her name, hoping it might finally release me.
It never does. The lipstick is gone. The woman is gone. The promises have faded. But the kiss remains. Some kisses don't end when the lips part. Some stay behind like scars.
And perhaps I'll spend my life trying to wash away the taste of a love I would still give anything to feel one last time. by @lowedioso

The Night Love Fell in Williamsโ€ฆ

The night Seth walked through Williams, Arizona, the sky opened in a heavy downpour. But it wasn't rain that tapped his umbrella. It was love.
Thousands of tiny hearts fell from the heavens, scattering across the pavement and glowing beneath the streetlights. They landed everywhere, drifting so close to Seth's skin that he could almost feel their warmth. Almost.
He kept his umbrella low, shielding himself from the very thing his heart had always wanted. Love had soaked him once before, leaving him broken, and he feared that letting it touch him again would only reopen wounds that never truly healed.
Inside a little coffee shop, customers watched through fogged windows as Seth walked alone beneath the falling hearts. A young couple sat beside the glass, sharing a slice of peach pie. They paused mid-bite, watching him cross the empty street, surrounded by the love he refused to accept.
Seth glanced their way and offered a faint nod before turning away.
He wondered what it felt like to be loved without fear. To be chosen without question. To hold someone's hand without secretly waiting for them to let go.
He believed love was beautiful. He simply couldn't understand why something so beautiful would ever belong to someone like him.
A glowing heart drifted near his shoulder. For one trembling moment, he considered lowering his umbrella. Instead, he brushed the heart away and kept walking, tears mingling with the rain beneath his umbrella.
The truth was, Seth hadn't stopped wanting love. He wanted it so desperately that he'd begun believing he didn't deserve it. He longed for someone to see his scars and stay, someone who would hold his hand even on the days he had nothing beautiful to offer.
But wanting love and believing you're worthy of it are two different kinds of pain.
โ€œI wish I believed I was worth one,โ€ he whispered.
Then he lowered his eyes and disappeared down the street as love continued to fall around him, patient and unrelenting.
And Seth kept walking, afraid to let it touch him, never realizing that perhaps the saddest part wasn't that love had forgotten him. It was that he'd forgotten how to believe he could be loved. taken in Williams Arizona Route 66 by @lowedioso

The heart that would not let me go...

I began walking because I could think of nothing else to do.
Behind me stumbled my broken heart, following like a lost puppy searching for scraps from a world that had long since stopped feeding it. Its eyes were hollow with hunger, yet it followed, hoping I might lead it somewhere kindness still existed.
โ€œGo away,โ€ I whispered. โ€œHaven't I suffered enough?โ€
But it would not leave.
I dragged it behind me with heavy, unbreakable chains forged from lonely nights, unanswered prayers, and the affection I watched others receive so effortlessly. With every mile, its weight grew heavier. My heart scraped against the asphalt, cracking the highway inch by inch, leaving a trail of broken pieces across the endless road.
Love had become a hunger that never satisfied, a feast that promised fullness but left me ravenous. The more I craved it, the emptier I became. I was tired, weak, lost, and broken, carrying a need that threatened to consume whatever remained of me.
After miles of dragging that unbearable weight, my legs finally surrendered. I collapsed onto the tar-soaked road, the chains crashing beside me.
I turned toward the battered thing tethered to my soul.
โ€œPlease,โ€ I begged. โ€œI cannot keep chasing something that may never choose me. I'm exhausted.โ€
Yet somehow, my heart still believed love would come. That someone might gather its shattered pieces, hold them gently, and mend what years of loneliness had destroyed. It believed someone would reach for my hand and never let go.
And God help me, some small part of me wanted to believe it as well as I pressed my forehead against the cold pavement and closed my eyes.
My heart wanted tenderness, companionship, a place to belong. It wanted someone to look at me and see more than the damage.
But my soul had grown so accustomed to rejection that it could no longer imagine deserving the very thing it craved.
And there I lay beneath an indifferent sky, caught between the desperate desire to be loved and the fear that I never would be.
My heart would not let me go...and I no longer knew how to carry it.

The Funeral of Love โ€” A confession by Seth

The night was cold, though I barely noticed. Dressed in my finest black suit, I stood inside a freshly dug grave, barely two feet deep. I hadn't come to bury a body. I had come to bury the last piece of me that still believed in love.
Beside me stood a headstone bearing four simple words: LOVE โ€” REST IN PEACE.
I stared at them and whispered, โ€œSo, this is where we end.โ€
I used to believe love would find me someday. I watched others fall into each other's arms, exchange glances that spoke louder than words, and hold hands as if the world could never tear them apart. Meanwhile, I stood outside that life, wondering when my turn would come.
But time has a cruel way of extinguishing even the smallest flame.
Sometimes I wonder if Cupid simply forgot me. Perhaps he fired a thousand arrows, only to watch them shatter against the stone my heart had become.
No warmth. No desire. No excitement at the thought of being loved. Just an empty room where affection once hoped to live.
I'd gone so long without kindness or compassion that I was beginning to forget what either felt like. Even the word love seemed foreign, despite spending years wishing I could experience its meaning.
And the cruelest part? I never wanted anything extraordinary.
Just a hand to hold during the quiet hours. Eyes that understood mine without explanation. Lips that met mine gently. Arms that made me feel wanted. Someone beside whom I could laugh freely and fall asleep without feeling like a stranger in my own bed.
Was that really too much to ask?
With every shovelful of earth, I buried another piece of myself: the foolish dreams, the sleepless nights, and the quiet hope that someone might one day look at me and see a man worth choosing.
Finally, I brushed the dirt from my hands and touched the headstone one last time.
LOVE โ€” REST IN PEACE.
For the first time in years, I stopped waiting for love to find me. I buried the waiting alongside it, and with it, the last little piece of my heart that still listened for footsteps coming home.

And God help me, I could no longer tell which one had died first.

The Diary of Sir Seth of the Tucsons
Of love forsaken and the silence that remains
The Seventeenth Day of October, in the Year of Our Lord 2026

Dear Diary, thou keeper of a heart that hath grown weary of its own beating, Methinks I have at last convinced myself that love shall never find me again. For what hope remains when love itself circles overhead like vultures above a carcass, rotting beneath the merciless sun of a desert long forgotten? Once, I believed warmth and compassion might yet return to this barren soul. Now, I fear those days have perished, leaving naught but dust and memories.
Each night, I sit alone, staring into the darkness. No fingers laced within mine. No gentle eyes meeting mine in the quiet hours. No lips to brush against mine, nor the warmth of a body against which I might rest my weary heart. Only the cold sheets, the empty chamber, and the cruel reminder that there is none beside me.
And the longer the silence stretches, the deeper its wound becomes. The world grows darker. The sounds of life grow quieter. Even laughter, once a welcome melody, seems a song sung in some distant kingdom to which I have been forever denied entry.
Absence, once a visitor, hath become a permanent resident within these walls. And permanence, I fear, hath become my most faithful companion.
How cruelly doth a man adapt to his own sorrow! I accept this solitude as I accept the rising sun, the beating of my heart, the breath within my lungs. As I eat, as I drink, as I take another step through this weary existence, so too do I learn to live without the very tenderness my soul once craved.
Yet beneath this weary acceptance lies a question I dare not answer: how much of a man may grow cold before he forgets what warmth once felt like?
Forsooth, I know not whether I have ceased believing in love, or merely exhausted myself waiting for its return.
And so, I shall close this book and greet another night, carrying the same quiet ache beneath a sky indifferent to my sorrow.

The Diary of Sir Seth of the Tucsons
The Fifteenth Day of October, in the Year of Our Lord 2026
Dear Diary, thou keeper of secrets I dare not speak aloud,
Alas, my heart doth wage war betwixt hope and despair. Loneliness hath become a ghost haunting my soul, whispering doubts in the dead of night. Art thou destined to wander alone, Sir Seth? Such questions pierce deeper than any blade, leaving an ache I cannot silence.
Forsooth, I long to feel another soul beside me, not merely for pleasures of the flesh, but for that rarer magic words cannot convey. To lose myself in the eyes of a woman whose soul speaks unto mine with but a glance. To share laughter so genuine that the world's troubles flee in shame. To feel a gentle touch, a lingering caress that sends playful shivers through my being for hours, perhaps days!
O, what sorcery lies within such gestures? A kiss sweeter than the finest wine, richer than the most decadent chocolate! If bliss hath a flavor, methinks I yearn to taste it.
Yet it is not passion alone that doth torment me. Nay, I long for an embrace wherein I might lay down the burdens of this weary world and simply be. No grand promises, only the comfort of another heartbeat, the quiet understanding of two souls who need not speak to know they are home.
And therein lies my sorrow. My heart remains a cold hearth, awaiting a gentle soul to stir its embers and rekindle a flame thought long extinguished. I fear the ache of longing, yet I fear a life without tenderness far more.
So here I sit, Sir Seth of the Tucsons, a knight armed with wit and guarded by pride, yet utterly defenseless against the desire to be loved.
What cruel jest is this, that a heart may hunger for love it cannot summon by command?
Mayhap one day, fortune shall smile upon this lonely knight. Until then, I shall carry my yearning beneath the desert stars, hoping another soul wonders if she, too, is waiting for me.
Until our next entry, dear diary,
May love find this wandering knight before loneliness claims the final word.
