Went super saiyan on the runway

Don’t Be Dumb tour with A$AP Rocky

Got casted to be on stage in full riot gear to perform for Rocky’s Don’t Be Dumb Tour at the Moody Center.

Lowkey still recovering from this. Keeping Rocky and myself alive in the mosh pit with two leg cramps was insane. Learning the choreo in a few hours alongside incredibly talented dancers felt like sink or swim.

Would not trade this experience for the world.

It could all be so simple

Getting to spend 5 days by the Llano River with a group of genuine creatives, artists, and musicians is something I look forward to dreaming about for the rest of my life.

Touching grass, soaking in the sun, and walking to the river every day with these lovely humans was such a treat. We spent every day together… playing, writing, singing, stretching, swimming, cooking, eating, sharing, learning and connecting. It was beautiful, and truly felt like what community is all about.

Thank you to @well.made.plays @dougiethewise @dokes.fm @alinotirl and @williej_ for organizing, planning, and fostering an amazing space for creativity and connection. And to everyone who made the time in this space so memorable.

I highly recommend y’all keep an eye out for future gatherings.

I’ve heard the next Sound Squeeze is going to be special.

There’s nothing we can’t do

If there’s one thing i’ve learned living in Austin, and being surrounded by creatives, it’s this. We truly have everything we need as a community to create everything we want to see in this world. It simply takes an idea and being vulnerable enough to share your idea with others, and knowing how to ask for help when needed. The important part is believing in yourself and finding the right people to help you. People who love you and your idea as much as you do will be there to support you and help you bring your idea to life. I’ve seen this enough times, and in enough ways to believe it.

There are some really good, generous, kind, talented, and resourceful people and groups who are actively creating, curating, and fostering a creative community for and with those around them. It’s an incredible reminder of what we can create and accomplish together when we lean on each other respectfully.

Thank you all for spreading love and creativity in your own ways.

Let’s build a world we want to see together as a community.

Eeyore’s 105th birthday on film

It’s been 10 years since the first time I celebrated this beloved donkey. So much has changed over the years, and yet, so much has stayed exactly the same. It’s kinda funny to me that for 62 consecutive years, Austinites have celebrated this chronically depressed, and spiritually domesticated creature.

Usually on a bed of grass in a neighborhood park, you’ll find aunties with their tiddies out, drum and dance circles formed by people of all ages, and a go to substance of choice usually in the form of liquids or herbs. If you stray away from the noise and deeper into the trees, you’ll find little pockets of friends hanging out in conversation pits, musicians with portable string and wind instruments, and essentially a beautiful little oasis.

Over the past decade or so, Eeyore’s birthday has become a place where all people (except tech bros) are welcome to meet under the sun, or the shade of a large oak tree, and be free from judgment from those around them. I think that’s what makes this day so special, and why it’s cherished by those who aren’t afraid to get a little weird.

Find the colors in life

It would be foolish to say or pretend that we don’t see color, especially if we do. It is all around us and within us too. I think it’s poetic that we need light in order to see and appreciate the colors around us. I also see truth in that having darkness in our hearts, or an absence of light, can prevent us from finding color in this world.

Photography teaches me to appreciate light and the different colors around me. Whether those colors be people, plants, the sky, or river. Whether it’s on film, digital, color, or black and white.

Someone that I believe does this beautifully (in life and through photography) is my dear friend @leah.bury aka @leah.creative. Thank you for always seeing the color in me and adding such vibrant colors to my world, and those lucky enough to know you.
