Summertime means being outside, notebook in my tote bag, laying in the grass with the sun beating down. Summer is fast and wild, with a lot of movement. The constant is my notebook and my pen and my body I carry around with me. I like the rawness summer possesses. My legs seem to get bruised up mysteriously, similarly to my notebook as my pencil marks the page and grass decorates the cover. Summer to me is the most fearless season, and as an artist I find inspiration in that. Summer is like a muse, a crush, a hot tempered idea you can’t get away from. The days are full of sunshine and daydreams and the nights are full of visions. by @lowkeynite

Here are some moments from our trip to my favorite place in Salem, the beachy boardwalk bonanza called The Willows. There’s restaurants, a huge arcade, a mini golf course and of course the infamous (in my eyes) and slightly decrepit section called “Kiddie Land” with a carousel and a ball eating puppet named Big Bertha. The Willows transports me back to the feeling of losing my parents at the mall, but in a fun whimsical way because we’re adults who can get lost on purpose. It just feels so dang charming and old fashioned. Jiin and I were particularly drawn to the carousel, featuring not only horses but also a bunny, a boar, a reindeer and other colorful creatures. The Willows stole our hearts that day and we left with matching rings with our earnings from the arcade. No, we did not feel embarrassed claiming our prizes from the teens behind the counter. We are free. This is our reminder for all this summer to get lost somewhere new and have a whimsical silly time with a friend. by @lowkeynite
