This one was shipped out to Bellingham, Washington, a place I lived many years ago.. spending nights working at Good Earth Pottery, just down the street from La Chat Noir. Wood pulp, Stan Getz and drizzling rain permeated the atmosphere, a beautifully moody place @mikehovander (are they still there?) ....

First Round of 50/50 Mason stain with Rare Earth Oxides tests. Crazy colors, but it works… they show translucency! by @lowlandstudio

Lots of Testing Rare Earth Oxides - They are oxides that will color the clay and still allow it to be translucent. It is hard to find a color that will allow light through the porcelain. This is what makes the Rare Earths special: how they interact with light . What if we add them to Mason Stains? Will they make them translucent? Behold! The process of recycling 8 years of porcelain trimmings and waste from throwing. I have been watching the pile get bigger and bigger and my space getting smaller snd smaller. Thank you to @benjaminaveyceramics for taking on the much needed role of recycler-in -chief (among other things)
These thousands of pounds of reclaim will be used in the new line of Sycamore Branch and Feather Chandeliers …. coming this Fall ! by @lowlandstudio
