POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I’M DJING IN CHICAGO✨🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸🌎

I can’t quite believe I’m finally able to share this insane news but I’ve been invited to DJ over in America this month at Public Works in celebration of the film myself + @sanjanaelina soundtracked and our joint EP release - I’ve never been to America so to be going over to play in the birthplace of House Music as a first visit is pretty mental.

I’ve worked so hard building my music portfolio across many projects fully independently over the past 10 years or so and struggled a lot with self doubt / anxiety, staying driven and true to my sound without relying on instant gratification so to reach a goal of this level is a massive personal achievement and feels like a turning point.

My journey with Sanjana started nearly 15 years ago when we would share tracks and help other local artists both here and overseas through our platform called CRLV that hosted mixes and compilations - We spent many nights full of delusional ambition in the hope that one day we would get to put our ideas into motion so to have the trust of @johelpereira to create an orignal score and the team at @publicworksgallery for hosting this event is incredible! 🙌

Thank you, thank you! From Hilton to the world, HWG 🚀

STORY TIME

The past 48ish hours has been absolute madness.

On Wednesday night I wrapped up 2 EPs with the intention of driving solo through to Skye to hand them to Fred Again after hearing he was playing a secretive show in this tiny hall (I had tried to get tickets but couldn’t)

Yesterday morning I left with nothing but a usb + a head full of dreams lol I don’t know the area at all so the notion sounded fckn crazy but knew it was an opportunity I had to take so left any pessimism/pride at the start line.

On arrival I found a little pub I knew was quite close to the hall so went in to get a lay of the land and sound out the locals - it was all very league of gentlemen and culty so at this point I did start to feel a bit nuts but persevered nonetheless

I decided to go get some food from a burger van close by and heard someone with a confident English accent enquiring about the Scottish delicacies - he seemed important - we spoke briefly over a burger
and I mentioned my mission and asked if he happened to have any intel - turns out he was the fckn tour manager !? He took the usb and told me he’d get it to Fred

I thought the mission was over at this point and started planning to head back home but knew my cousin was staying close by so thought I’d float about and meet up later on (she had been keen to go but also didn’t manage to get a ticket)

We met up and I said I’d walk along with her to see if anyone was selling any before I drove back - no such luck and we were told it by security it had been sold out for weeks like duh why you so stupid

I then spotted my new bff near the tour van and he recognised me and told me to come over - he told me Fred had my usb and then proceeded to invite us in 🤯

The rest of the night I was just kind of in shock but today it really hit home how so much of this music stuff is and has always been about internally training yourself to stay driven and ambitious even when everything seems bleak or your full of self doubt like I’m not mr motivator but I thought this was a pretty good story and would hopefully encourage people to do things without all the noise.

Massive thanks to @fredagainagainagainagainagain / Ian taken in Skye by @lowtmusic
