I’ve called @LPJakes a pastor for years. Even when she was my girlfriend, I felt the hand of God on her. I was falling in love and being ministered to at the same time.

I know a little of how heavy her yes was. Watching God use my wife last night made me so happy. Seeing her stand up and give the world a slice of what I get to see every day left me so grateful.

Larissa, I’m so proud of you. I love you.

Your husband.
Your biggest fan. by @lpjakes

Dad, we came to celebrate you. Then you asked your children to stand.

You remembered the sleeping in the car. The hair done in the rearview mirror. The times you were across the world helping somebody else while we needed you at home.

You thanked us for what we carried with you.

I’m grateful you made room for that in a room full of people honoring you.

Then you said, “I am so proud of you.”

Of the gifts God put in us. Of how we use them.
Dad, I’m proud of you, too.

I keep thinking about January 10, 2001. A Wednesday night. You preaching. Me receiving Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit, held in your arms at the altar.

And then this July, preaching my first sermon, “Unfinished Glory,” and asking you to lead the prayer of salvation.

I got to minister with you. To hear you pray as other people made the decision I had made under your ministry all those years ago.

Your son.
Still being formed.
Now getting to share that moment with you.

That is a part of your fifty years I will carry for the rest of my life.

I’m old enough now to understand more of what this calling required. Still your child enough that hearing you say you’re proud of me means more than I know how to write.

Congratulations on fifty years of ministry, @BishopJakes.

Thank you for seeing us in your story. I love you. And I’ll always be grateful that, among all the people God reached through you, one of them was me. by @lpjakes

Mother-in-law by title. Mother to all by heart. ❤️

Granny, there are some people whose love is so big that it makes room for everyone, and you are one of them.

You are the mother of all. The one who loves, covers, prays, laughs, corrects, encourages, and somehow keeps all of us together. You have never made me feel like an “in-law.” You made me family. You made me yours.

This picture makes me smile because it captures just a little of what surrounds you: women who have been loved, strengthened, and covered by you. Your legacy isn’t only in what you’ve accomplished, it’s in the people who are better because you loved them.

I’m so grateful God gave me another mother through you. I love you deeply, Granny. Thank you for making room for me in your heart and for being a safe place for so many of us.

Our Granny. Our matriarch. Our Mother of All. 👑❤️

Happy Birthday to the QUEEN! 🎂👑 @seritajakes

Happy Birthday to my husband, my love, and my favorite person. ❤️

There’s something beautiful about getting to know someone over and over again as life changes them. Dex, I’ve had the privilege of watching you grow, lead, dream, overcome, be stretched, be sharpened, and continue becoming more of the man God created you to be. And somehow, with every new version of you, I find another reason to love you.

Today, I’m not just celebrating the day you were born. I’m celebrating you! Your heart, your strength, your vision, the way you carry responsibility, and the way you show up for the people you love.

But I also get the version everyone doesn’t see. The one who makes me laugh when I’m trying very hard to stay annoyed. 😂 The one who knows my looks, my moods, and when my “nothing is wrong” definitely means something is wrong. The one I can dream with, pray with, be completely ridiculous with, and just be myself around.

I love our life. Not because it’s perfect, but because it’s ours. The inside jokes nobody else understands, the long conversations, the crazy ideas, the prayers we’ve watched God answer, the hard seasons we’ve walked through together, and those moments when we just look at each other like, “Well… here we go again.” 😂❤️

My prayer for you this year is that you get to enjoy what God is doing in your life. You spend so much time thinking ahead, carrying the next responsibility, solving the next problem, and making sure everyone else is okay. I pray this year gives back to you.

May God surprise you. May He protect what He has placed inside of you, give you wisdom for everything ahead, and give you the peace to stop every once in a while, look around, and simply say, “God has been good to me.”

And through every version of you still to come, you’ll find me right here… Loving you, praying with you, challenging you, laughing with you, occasionally getting on your nerves, and reminding you that your wife is usually right. 😌😂

I choose you. I believe in you. And I’ll always be in your corner.

I love the man you are, I love the man you’re becoming, and I love this crazy, beautiful life God has g taken in Happy Birthday by @lpjakes

When they hold me, I am a little girl again. ❤️

Feliz Dia dos Pais! 🎉💙

💙💙 by @lpjakes

Some of us pray like tenants on probation.

Maybe by Thursday the Bible is still closed on the table. Not because you stopped wanting God, but because shame has already told you the house is empty again.

You are not an applicant. You are a child. Sealed. Invited to draw near.

Two verses sit under that. Ephesians 1:13: “you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise.” And Ephesians 4:30: “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” Both, in one breath. Seriousness and security in the same sentence.

And here is the part that keeps it from becoming a loophole. If you took, return it. If you wounded someone, make the call and begin repair wherever repair is possible. You do not do that to purchase your way back to God. You do it because grace has made you secure enough to stop hiding from what you did.

The practice from that night: once a day this week, one scene, one Gospel. Not a chapter. Not a study. No notes, no request. Watch Him. Watch what He does with His hands. Watch who He looks at, and how long. Then close it and sit for one minute.

The feeling follows the looking. It does not lead it.

Everybody has a room. Tuesday, we built a place to open them.

Before there was a tabernacle, there was a garden. And the garden was about the walking. At Sinai, God asked for a sanctuary so He could dwell, not visit. And the true tent showed up in a Person.

Then the room took over. One by one: doors, closets, rooms locked for years. That was the heart of the night. And Larissa said the other half out loud: feelings are real, but they are not the promise.

This week’s homework is one room. Name it out loud, once. Then crack the door: a confession, a hard text you’ve been avoiding, one honest sentence in the dark. You don’t have to clean it before He comes.

And if you can’t even open it? He has been known to walk through locked doors (John 20:19).

If someone came to mind on the fifth slide, send it. You don’t have to say anything.

Tuesday, 7 PM. Week 3: “Ichabod.” We meet in the chapel from here on.

Open the door. He fills what you open.

We planned a table for a couple dozen. 450 of you pulled up a chair, and 1,700 more are taking the journey from wherever you are.

Glory to God!

So here’s where we begin:

We say glory all the time. We almost never mean weight. But that’s the word — kavod, heavy. The presence that once filled a temple until the priests couldn’t stand.

It begins Tuesday, 7 PM — The Weight (Exodus 33). A man on a mountain, in the wreckage of his worst failure, asking the only thing worth asking — show me Your glory.

Table or phone, near or far — the glory was never locked in one room. Come hungry. Not for answers. For Him.

🔗 We meet Tuesday, 7 PM. Taking the journey online? Week 1 is live now at thereturningglory.com.

And wherever you are, pray the prayer we start with: Lord, show me Your glory.

There are moments when words seem too small for what God has done.

How do you describe the explosion of a grateful heart when you watch the faithfulness of God fulfill what He promised, while still realizing He isn’t finished yet? Unfinished clay… in the Potter’s hands.

This Sunday I watched the shepherd of our home stand with empty hands, yet full of the grace of God. A surrendered “yes” that allowed the glory to belong to Jesus alone.

For years, I’ve watched you pursue the will of God through valleys, seasons of waiting, loneliness, and countless moments that can only be described with two words:

But God.

Watching your walk has often reminded me of Enoch:
 “And he walked with God.”
Never concerned with the clock, but always with the souls sitting before you.

For a long time I wondered, “Why you?” Our plans were simple! A quiet life with our farm, our livestock, and our garden.

Then Sunday, the Lord answered me.

Because you genuinely love His people.

You have wept with them, prayed with them, rejoiced with them, and pointed them to Jesus. As you searched for His heart, He searched yours and found a man thirsty for the Living Water.

This Sunday wasn’t about a sermon. It was about watching a man remain on the Potter’s wheel.

Thank you for your yes.

Thank you for your surrender.

Thank you for taking my hand and showing me that the road to the Cross always leads us to the heart of our Good Father.
I love you and the One who carries you! ❤️

If you missed “Unfinished Glory,” I pray you watch it. May we all remain in the Potter’s hands, allowing Him to shape us, break us when necessary, remake us, and use us to reflect the essence of God in us.

“Yet You, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, You are the Potter; we are all the work of Your hand.” — Isaiah 64:8 by @lpjakes
