NYU LAW FORCED STUDENTS to REMOVE KEFFIYEHS and THROW THEM IN A BIN AT GRADUATION!

On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, NYU Law administrators and event security forced several students to remove their keffiyehs or else they could not walk across the stage at convocation.

Nevertheless, several students bravely walked across the stage with their keffiyehs.

It’s shameful that NYU Law would force students to choose between their rights to protest and celebrating this momentous moment in front of their families and friends! by @lsfpnational

NYU Law Class of 2026 says NO CELEBRATION UNTIL LIBERATION!

As we graduate today, there are no universities left in Gaza.

Since many of us began law school in Fall 2023, Israel and the United States’ assault on Gaza has devastated Palestinian life on an unimaginable scale.

As law students and future lawyers, we have a responsibility to uplift the human rights of the Palestinian people and reject the indiscriminate bombing, torture, and starvation being funded by our tuition and tax dollars.
We refuse to be complicit in this genocide. We refuse to allow repression to chill our speech. And we refuse to abandon solidarity with Palestinians and oppressed people everywhere.

We therefore reiterate our demands:
Disclose and divest from weapons manufacturers and genocide
Shut down NYU Tel Aviv
Refuse to comply with ICE and the Trump administration
Kick the NYPD off campus

Today is the 78th anniversary of the Nakba. These are some books to read that explore and discuss the Nakba, not just as a singular event but as a continual horror, the aftershocks of which will be felt until Palestine is free. 🇵🇸

Over the past six months, Mubarak has opened up to us about his and his family’s experiences surviving Israel’s genocide in Gaza. The words he has shared demonstrate great resilience, hope, and believe in humanity, and we want to share these words with the world today. In return, we ask that you share whatever you can with Mubarak’s family — every donation can help them secure medicine for their father or clothes and blankets to stay warm in the cold winter temps. Please Venmo @ hoopcoalition today ❤️🇵🇸 by @lsfpnational

Marwa’s family of three young children has survived more than 26 months of the brutal U.S.-Israeli genocide in Gaza. They have endured the destruction of their home, forced evacuations, hunger and deprivation from basic human needs, and incalculable grief and loss. In this post, we spotlight Marwa’s call to our communities in her own words. This family’s needs are incredibly urgent, and every single amount will help them continue to survive this genocide and bring them closer to a future of hope and safety. Please Venmo your donation to hoopcoalition with the message “For Marwa” today, or reach out to @hoopmutualaidgaza if you prefer to pay a different way. Today’s the beginning of #ReadPalestineWeek and here’s what I’m reading! 🇵🇸

“The Arabic word sumūd is often loosely translated as “steadfastness” or “standing fast.” It is, above all, a Palestinian cultural value of everyday perseverance in the face of Israeli occupation. Sumūd is both a personal and collective commitment; people determine their own lives, despite the environment of constant oppressions imposed upon them.
In times of devastation, poetry, literature, and art are the mediums through which oppressed peoples reveal cherished aspects of their existences and remain defiant in the fight for self-determination. Sumūd: A New Palestinian Reader honors the Palestinian spirit and its power in the face of dispossession and war. When governments around the world enable the genocide of a people and the dilapidation of a sacred homeland, the Palestinian people stand fast and resist. The fifty-eight contributions in this collection remind readers that just as love perseveres, so do the Palestinians, and their struggles and triumphs.”

Thank you so much to @publishers4palestine for organizing this incredible week every year and for every reader, author, publisher, and anyone else who supports this! What are YOU reading this week? 💚🖤❤️🤍 by @lsfpnational

Please support Mo and his family in raising urgent evacuation funds! As we’ve discussed on our page before, when opportunities for Palestinians to evacuate Gaza do exist, they remain an incredibly expensive burden on any family. For the next 7 days, we are asking our community to consider what they may have to give: Every contribution will help Mo and his family fight for a better, safer future for themselves, a future they’ve decided they cannot pursue in Gaza due to Israel’s ongoing genocide. Please donate to @hoopcoalition on Venmo today, or DM @hoopmutualaidgaza if you need an alternative payment method. 🇵🇸❤️‍🩹 by @lsfpnational
