Luke & his 3.5 YO pup Sadie—an eclectic Boxer-Pit mix. She’s either an Aries or Pisces, neither of which means anything to Luke, but Sadie insists she feels ‘very Pisces.’ Sadie’s celebrity crush is Wishbone, the PBS dog who solves mysteries in costumes. One time Luke talked to a pet psychic who claimed that Sadie may actually be his grandmother, reincarnated. This is equal parts endearing and concerning, given how much Sadie likes to lick people’s faces. Her favorite snack is Cheez-Its. In order to afford Sadie’s Cheez-It habit, Luke wrote them a poem, and they sent him 2 free cases of Cheez-Its (see slide 4). When Sadie misbehaves at the park and is sentenced to air jail, she is 100 percent committed to serving her sentence with dignity, just like Martha Stewart did in 2004.

New hobby: interviewing friends about their best post ever

Best Post Ever — part internet archaeology, part comedy.

The idea is basically that the internet moves too fast, and most of the best writing and ideas die in the scroll.

I want to slow it down.
To remember the 💎’s.

I wanna figure out why certain posts resonated w/ the world, and also why they meant so much to the people who created them. by @lstrathm

"Me trying to be funny in serious places was…a theme throughout my life."

Episode 131: Luke Strathman - The Creative Economist

@lstrathm is a writer, economist, comedian and poet based in New York City.

Link to listen in bio @aonypod.

"I grew up on a little donkey farm near Philadelphia."

“I…never knew that comedy was an actual career I could pursue."

"Just because I believe in the organization or the work, it doesn't necessarily mean it's right for me to be (working there).”

"What really lights me up and brings me joy is…performing and comedy and bringing people together and hosting events."

“There's this fun thing about New York: there's so many random venues and shows."

"I could see day-to-day, sitting at the office every day…I don't know if this is me."

"The values are still there, but…I’ve figured out that…(what) I want to be doing every day is probably closer to on the creative writing side, performing side."

"My dream is to sell a pilot."

"There's so many good comedians in New York performing all over the city on any given night."

"I actually like the balance."

"I get really excited by the creation process of coming up with a new thing, a new bit or set."

"I think success for me is living a good day-to-day life that I'm happy with."

"Having the flexibility to be able to create is an incredible goal." taken in New York City by @lstrathm
