This week is the 63rd anniversary of the end of the Bristol Bus Boycott. It overturned a bus company’s racism in not employing black and Asian workers and led to the Race Relations Act 1965.

The video is from 2023 when Guy Bailey and Barbara Dettering, two of the original 1963 protestors, led a recreated protest at St Mary Redcliffe Church in Bristol.

AD | The Royle Family actor Ralf Little in The Spy Who Came in From the Cold at Theatre Royal Bath.

Ralf stars in the first ever theatre production of John le Carré’s classic novel.

It’s a great show with Ralf and the rest of the cast delivering top performances. It’s a stylish and tense production but with some humour too. The music is fabulous and communicates really well the atmosphere of 1960s Cold War espionage and intrigue.

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

The Spy Who Came in From the Cold is at Theatre Royal Bath until 22 August.

AD | Walk inside a hot air balloon at Bristol Balloon Fiesta this weekend.

In The Clouds is an immersive experience which includes two films. The first is of Bristol Belle, the UK’s first modern hot air balloon, making her maiden flight 50 years ago with a team including Cameron Balloons and fiesta Don Cameron.

The second is Don’s son Dave flying a modern balloon.

It’s a wonderful experience and highly recommended. It’s free to enter all weekend.
