@aprylsjones was a special guest at LTHYW 2025 and her conversation was one of those moments. Grounded, honest, and full of intention. She brought a calm, down-to-earth energy that made the room feel open and real. This is what 2025 looked like for us. Meaningful conversations. Real connection. Women showing up as themselves. Grateful for Apryl and everyone who helped make this year what it was 🖤 by @lthywdc

Highlights:•The new chancellor walked by #lthyw at #ncat and said he liked what we are doing • @lthywdc had a voter registration table!•Year 3 at #ncat and 800+ students registered to attend It’s meaningful to bring #lthyw to my hometown and give back to #ncat. In all transparency, at times I feel small & have negative thoughts surrounding bringing this event together. However, the energy in the room on Friday really filled me up. To hear students feedback saying this is exactly what they needed, lets me know #lthyw is truly an empowering community on the right track. I’m thankful for brands like @myavanahaircare and @palmers that just get it & support us! The 1st year we brought #lthyw to #ncat we had 200 RSVPs, year 3 we had 800+! We’ve awarded $5000 in scholarships over the past two years & yielded 10+ internship opportunities. I’m grateful for the #aggie community, when I reach out to @lindsaysaidso and @osamabindrankin and you do what you can to help because Aggies do! Grateful for the panel conversation @marcherobinson @therealkym @tracyhughes__ your words were felt more than you know. Marche and I went to the same high school so I was so ecstatic when she agreed to be apart of the conversation! I don’t know what I’m doing half of the time, I’m just throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks BUT I’m going to keep going. Trying to balance all the hats I wear wife, mom, & I still have a full time job. Yall it’s hard, but I can do hard things. Shout out to my circle, y’all hold me down 🫶🏽🥹 and #lthyw could not happen without you! Next year @lthywdc turn 10!! I don’t know what the future holds but I’ll keep going 🖤 #tgbtg by @lthywdc

We want to tell you about @vecoya, founder of @lthywdc.She saw a problem a lot of young women in DC were facing, they loved fashion, beauty, and hair, but nobody was showing them how to turn those passions into an actual career. So she built Love Hair The You Wear as a community to change that. For the last five years she’s been showing up on campuses and giving students something most programs don’t, career clarity. Not just “follow your passion” advice. Real, tangible pathways from the things they already love into the careers they can actually build. When our founder @justcallmehicks met Vecoya it made complete sense. Brittany lives at the intersection of retail, fashion, beauty, and the university ecosystem. She understood exactly what Vecoya was building and why it mattered, especially for HBCU students who deserve to see themselves reflected in every room they walk into.So together they’re doing something special for Homecoming this year. An experience designed by women who actually know this community, built for Aggies, by people who understand what Aggies care about. Not a random event. Something that actually feels like them.We can’t say too much yet. But trust us…you don’t want to miss it. 👀Stay tuned. 💜 #GHOE #NCAandT #TheReset #WOCWorldwide #LTHYW LoveHairYouWear HBCUMade NCAandT GHOE HBCUHomecoming CareerClarity BlackWomenInBusiness WOCCommunity BeautyFounder FashionCareers HBCUProud AggiePride by @lthywdc

People see the event. They don’t always see the calls, planning sessions, spreadsheets, follow-ups, budget conversations, venue searches, sponsor meetings, and revisions that happen months before anyone walks through the doors.Building Love the Hair You Wear has taught me that consistency isn’t glamorous, but it’s necessary. November will be here before we know it. Every meeting is another brick being laid. What brick are you laying this week? by @lthywdc

Listen I just know if my husband wouldn’t have come and made him return to his seat, our son would have ended up right in that center chair directly next me 😂 I heard about this the day it happened… Apparently, while I was interviewing Apryl, EJ kept trying to get our attention … One thing about kids, they don’t care if you’re speaking on stage, or trying to look professional. They gone find you. Safe to say, entrepreneurship and motherhood are always happening at the same time. Anyone else have a kid who always seems to know the exact moment to make an appearance? 😂 by @lthywdc

Building @lthywdc has given me a lot of unforgettable moments, but this conversation with @aprylsjones is one I’ll always carry with me. Before our event, I remember questioning myself. I was juggling work, motherhood, leading a nonprofit, and trying to create an experience that students deserved. I had one of those honest moments where I wondered, “Who do I think I am trying to do all of this?”When I shared that with Apryl, she didn’t give me some perfectly polished answer. She simply said, “Well you’re doing it & you look good while you’re doing it from one mom to another”It reminded me that even women we admire are carrying a lot. Motherhood is hard. Building something meaningful is hard. Wearing multiple hats is hard. Social media rarely shows those moments of doubt, but they’re real. That’s one of the gifts this journey has given me. Yes, we’ve hosted incredible events and welcomed inspiring guests, but the conversations behind the scenes … the honest, human ones … have encouraged me just as much as they’ve inspired our community. If you’re in a season where you’re questioning whether you can keep all the balls in the air, let this be your reminder: You’re already doing more than you give yourself credit for. What’s one piece of encouragement that’s stayed with you over the years?PS if you look hard enough you can spot my son in between the letters on the stage 😂 motherhood gives no BREAKS 😂😂 by @lthywdc
