We have been to Santa Cruz many times and knew exactly what to expect for this past weekends @usasurfing event! We knew it would be challenging with the smaller swell and higher tides in the afternoon. Our athletes did the best they could to adapt to the challenging conditions. It definitely worked in a few of the earlier heats. @zoepanettiere and @miablaxland found that upper good to excellent range and smashed some waves. Ultimately most of our athletes struggled with positioning and got out of rhythm. So, back to the drawing board and we will come swinging at the next one. I do have to give @miablaxland a huge congratulations on taking a 4️⃣th place finish at this event. It’s not quite what we wanted or expected in the final, but it’s a great result and we will be needing those points at the end of the season! Always proud of the effort my crew puts in. Onto the next one. 👊🏾

Super Girl Pro 2026 was a blast. I was super stoked to work with @charliegallothecharger. She put in a great effort and gave a hard heat her all. @scout.mitchell surfed a solid first heat and advanced to finals day. Scout was dominating her rnd of 32 heat until she lost prio which cost her advancement.
@faviolaalcala had a super solid event, making multiple heats and finishing with a quarter final finish. taken in 1st Street Jetty by @ltrsurf

VB Pro QS 4,000
Lots of smiles and solid surfing from our crew last week! We had a handful of heat wins, but ultimately fell short of finals. I’m always proud of the effort our crew puts into these events. Good luck to @zoepanettiere and @marlynn.glaub in El Salvador this week for 🇺🇸 @usasurfing at @isasurfing. @kaikushner is off to some 6k QS events in Europe. @faviolaalcala is staying here for the @supergirlpro VB and we are training hard to have a successful weekend! taken in 1st Street Jetty by @ltrsurf

The best birthday present ever! The kids went first🥇 and 🥈. Jasper dropped a 8.17 and put the pressure on Harper. Harper rose to the occasion and got a 7 at the end to take the win. This was Harper’s 3rd year in a row winning the @ecscsurfing push in comp. I am super proud of both of them. Thanks VB family for coming down to support. Thanks @bellyslaterofficial for a fun event. Super Girl Pro O’Side 2026 is in the books! I had an absolute blast training old friends and making new ones. We had a solid crew for the event and had a few athletes break through. @annabelle_tihanyi @maizygordon @zoepanettiere all had a rough go in the first round, but learned a lot. Zoe would hit reset and soon get another shot at the VB Pro. @scout.mitchell would have a couple solid heats using good strategy and utilizing some new techniques we have been working on. She was super close in her last heat but ran out of time. Super proud of Scout and her progression. She will be having another shot in VB as well. @marlynn.glaub had an amazing event taking a 17th place finish. Her best result in a 4,000 WQS. Marlynn surfed smart and strong. This was a huge confidence booster for her. Onto VB for Marlynn as well. We are now out in Virginia Beach for the VB Pro and Super Girl Pro VB. taken in Oceanside Pier by @ltrsurf

Thanks @usasurfing for putting on a great Championship event. Huge shout out to @alberto.barzan who surfed amazing the entire event and took a solid 2nd in the final. @zoepanettiere also made finals and took 4th. She displayed some powerful surfing in the lip fetching some excellent scores@in several rounds. @harlowlospooner lost in semis and took an =5th. A huge result for her first ever Champs. @mags_surf put in a great effort, but the bomb sets and run arounds got the best of her. She will definitely be a contender next year. @maizygordon surfed well, but needed one more opportunity with no more time on the clock. It’s always fun to have my big island buddy out here @kona.costa. We got him dialed on a good board and he was looking great in the free surfs. He had a wave in the last few seconds of his heat and started strong and just came off on his good second turn. Had he ridden out and got a couple more turns we’d be moving on. Hope to see him next year. @kendall.dimmick was definitely one of the favorites going into champs in the U14 division. She just needed a small back up of a 1.24. We will work on our time management and come back swinging. I had a great time with @jonny_herrouin dialing in boards and refining his surfing and maneuver choice before the event. He smashed his first heat and surfed a solid second heat. He ended up in a really slow quarter final and just couldn’t get going. He’s super talented and I hope to see him at some QS events this Season. I’m super proud of all my athletes who have trusted me to take them to the top. Some made it some didn’t. Losing is learning and as long as we are taking note of our mistakes we will do better next time. taken in Lower Trestles by @ltrsurf

Summer 2026 Elite Surf Coaching Camps are here!

We are excited to launch the first week of camp next week. It’s a fun and challenging program that will help intermediate to advanced surfers become better competitors mentally and physically.

Mondays and Wednesdays the surfers will run heats in the morning for heat practice. The heats will be filmed and critiqued to address technique and body mechanics. There will be midday lunch time talks about strategy and preparation. Early afternoon the surfers will have a free surf where they are able to let loose and try new maneuvers. These sessions will be photographed.

Tuesdays and Thursdays will consist of more heat practice with a run-around technique on Tuesday. Thursday we will implement priority and have the students surf it and do priority for the other students. Both days we will be physical fitness days which include stretching and about 45mins of intense work out. This will help the athletes achieve maximum physical strength and a new level of confidence in their abilities.

Fridays start with donuts, an alternative board demo, and end with a competition. The end of the week competition will have a cash 💵 prize purse. Everyone wins money. There will be prizes from @fcs_surf @sunbum and @surfgrassmats !

Harper Daniels is your 2026 @surfwsa Girls U10 West Coast Champion! 🏆
In addition, Harper won the Tom Gibbons sportsmanship award.
We had an incredible season battling some very talented girls up and down the California coast and can’t wait for more.

Harper uses her distance from the beach as motivation. She’s always hungry to get to the beach and surf. Harper only surfs once or twice a week at a practice ran by me, her dad, and might sneak in a free surf another day. On the other hand, she definitely puts her time in at home on a carver or on Tuesdays with @thesk8coach Matt! I believe skateboarding has dramatically improved my kids surfing skills.

Thank you @chemistrysurfboards for making a board with plenty of volume and width that allows Harper to draw mature lines and to hold deep bottom turns. This is what has set her apart this season.
