If you’ve spent any time on Court Street lately, you’ve probably noticed the energy coming from Luana’s Tavern at 449 Court Street.

Owned by husband-and-wife team Ricky and Alana Miron, Luana’s isn’t just another neighborhood restaurant—it’s a true Carroll Gardens love story. Ricky was born and raised in the neighborhood, and the couple first met at this very location years ago when it was the beloved PJ Hanley’s. Years later, married with children, they returned to the place where it all began and opened Luana’s, naming it after their daughter.

The building itself carries generations of neighborhood history. Long before Luana’s, locals gathered here under the PJ Hanley’s name, one of Brooklyn’s most iconic old-school taverns. The space has always been a place where neighbors meet, stories are shared, and friendships are made.

And what a location. Court Street wasn’t always lined with destination restaurants, cocktail bars, and food lovers from all over NYC. Decades ago, it was a working-class Brooklyn corridor filled with longshoremen, neighborhood families, social clubs, corner bars, and local merchants who knew every customer by name. It was a place where kids played on the sidewalks, families sat on their stoops, and everybody knew everyone.

Today, Court Street has become one of Brooklyn’s premier dining destinations. From neighborhood institutions to some of the city’s most talked-about restaurants, the food and bar scene continues to thrive. Yet despite all the changes, Carroll Gardens still holds onto that small-town Brooklyn charm that makes it so special.

That’s what makes Luana’s stand out. It feels authentic. Great food, craft cocktails, families gathering together, neighbors catching up, and owners who genuinely care about the community they call home.

Carroll Gardens has always been about people. Luana’s Tavern is simply the next chapter in a story that’s still being written. Who is ready to experience a day at Luanas Tavern?
