We’ve always dreamed of making a holiday film, and this year we had the chance to create something special.

Written and directed by our own @wian_van_bergen this film was a labor of love. Huge thanks to every artist who went above and beyond to bring it to life.

Crocodile Dance's northstar-protagonist, Roukia

Hers is a power story.

Our film has had an eventful last couple of months! First at Annecy and now at Durban Film Mart where we picked up the NFVF Award for Best Animation project. The award comes with a cash grant that we're very thankful for. We were among 8 films at the market, and congrats to them on their own stellar efforts and journey so far.

Our producer, @ingsbeer, directors @asyn_sa + @shofcoker pitched the film once again to a panel of investors and industry professionals. We're in development so we're looking for more strategic partnerships and grants to aid our efforts to shape the film.

Thanks again to @durbanfilmmart
and @annecyfestival for starting our journey auspiciously ✨ 🇳🇬🇿🇦🇫🇷 ✨

Happy Mozambique Independence Day!! 🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿
In honor of Mozambique celebrating 50 years of independence, we are excited to announce that we’ll be producing an anime film called CHIURE: CHILD OF THE SEA. 🌊✨✨

We may not be sharing more updates on this film for a long while (it is a part of our slate of films after MFINDA), so we’re happy to share what we can with you now!

Inspired by Mozambican folklore, CHIURE: CHILD OF THE SEA tells the story of Chiure, a girl who protects her diminishing sea-side community by awakening a centuries old connection to the ocean and an ancient water God sleeping beneath the earth. 🐢

N LITE is producing the film at our studio in Japan in collaboration with Emmy and Annie nominated South African animation studio @lucan_studio 🤝🏾✍🏾🎨

Story by @mozwrites, Christiano Terry and Clayton Koski
Screenplay by @mozwrites
Watercolor Art by Tom Lintern
Art Direction by Christiano Terry

Inspiration photography by Douglas Condzo, Idefonso Colaco, Olivier Martel and Peter Turnley
