“If happiness is just an illusion,
You were the best I ever had„

“If happiness is just an illusion,
You were the best I ever had„
Sienna Spiro

Writing this in the back of the car, crying, because my Erasmus has come to an end.

I’m leaving a place that took me in and never once made me feel like a stranger. Six months here and somehow it turned into home, home to people I never expected to grow this attached to.

I wasn’t looking for deep connections when I got here. I found them anyway, in long conversations, inside jokes nobody else will get and memories I know I’ll keep coming back to.

I am not sad because it is ending. I am grateful because it happened and because the people who made these months what they were are not disappearing. They are simply far away for a while.

These six months in Haarlem with you were extraordinary. I won’t forget a single moment we shared. None of us called this country home. Somehow, together, we made it feel like one anyway.
