It feels surreal to think that this is my R34 GTR 🥹 A pure white (QM1) VspecII, one original Japan owner since new, 45.000km, absolutely incredible condition. This is the Japan car.

Ever the cliche, this is THE boyhood dream. A seemingly unreachable dream. The JDM hero was my poster on a wall, cover of DVDs, pixels on a Playstation, yup that was me, skipping class for another go at Fuji Speedway or Tsukuba Circuit. And when prices of 34s skyrocketed globally, it became just a table flip of downright fantasy - just forget about it, I thought. Not realistic.

Fast forward through a short 15 years of hustle, taking risks, striving, failing, getting knocked down, but getting up, do it again. Over time, it all compounds, you grow, you build the mindset. Open new doors. Opportunities.

You also realise that it all doesn’t last. Life is shorter than we think. So fk it, time to reach for that boyhood dream. Go get that GTR 🤍

So what now? Well apart from THE dream coming true (yeh so that’s mental), it is to drive it through Japan, with family and friends on the journey, build life memories with the forever car. Oh, and she will be staying in Japan for a little while. ‘34’ plates are on (always wanted to do that!). The glow up begins…👀

Big thank you to my good friend Pat @2pjz_ for letting me live vicariously through you on this drive (looked like such hard work for you haha). @ryuki_sports.jdm for looking after her in Japan.

Some random happy snaps from a wonderful event for a community of like minded automotive creatives and enthusiasts. Fantastic variety of cars (particularly liked the underrepresented Frenchies), located on a live construction site that will no longer be accessible once the development is complete, it was great to meet new friends, and catch up with old friends.

@staydriven.co Track Day, hosted by @drivewithcam and @2pjz_ .

First time out at Winton. Twisty and technical, the Yaris is made for this type of circuit! Was out for almost a full hour in session, such confidence with no real signs of fade or overheat (apart from the driver!), which is testament to GR and @lamspeedracing build.

Truth is, with this setup on A052s, I’m not even sure that I would have gone much faster, or certainly felt faster or would enjoy pushing more, if I was in the GT3. That car of course remains the benchmark, has an actual race engine, RSR front end, anti-dive, full aero underbody, best manual gearbox in the business, a symphony with JCR, all the things. Even so, this Yaris… that it’s even in the same conversation with a legend 10x its price (ok maybe 5x with mods haha), hats off to Toyota GR and Charles at Lamspeed.

Thanks Pat for organising a day out for a great bunch of enthusiasts. Everyone left smiling ear to ear (some with less tyres than others from skidpan action 😂)

A wild S1 Bayside Blue 34 has appeared!
@2pjz_ on tour in my pure white 34 at Tatsumi PA. The kind of Japan only chance encounter with an Omori Factory Nismo S1 engined 34, a real OG, having completed the build in the 00’s.
