Happy Indigenous People’s Day ☀️

Wanted to share a book I picked up this year that immediately caught my attention. I haven’t seen it much on my feed, but it definitely deserves a spot on your TBR list! 💕📚

Calling For A Blanket Dance by Oscar Hokeah is Oscar’s debut novel published in 2022 which follows Ever Geimausaddle and his family who is part Mexican and part Native American and the constant obstacles they encounter.

Each chapter is told in first person by a different member of Ever’s family.

Oscar Hokeah also, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma (through his mother’s side) and of Mexican heritage (through his father), brought lived experiences to his debut novel through his own heritage.

If you know me, you know journaling has been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but I could never quite follow through — part of me always felt a little awkward putting my thoughts on paper.

Well… I finally put action behind my words and joined a journaling cohort! Not only do we meet on a weekday, but it’s also from 7–8:30 PM. That’s two things I usually avoid: leaving the house after dark and especially on a weekday 😅

Grateful for the friends (@bmagadan15 ) who nudge me toward growth, even when it means stepping out of my comfort zone (which I hate doing lol)💛💖☺️

March was filled with SOO many memories 🌱🌼🎀📖!

From attending @thewhisperingshelf adult bookfair at @guggmanhausbrewing , having our monthly book club at @parlorpublichouse , going to my nieces art ceremony at the statehouse, getting boba with my bestie, participating in the @indyindiebookcrawl , to getting my windshield cracked from a flying rock!! 😅

An eventful march to say the least LOL.
