First, I am extremely proud to share that my daughter created the beautiful artwork for this single as a tribute to my mother when she passed on —she loved yellow roses and ‘colibrí’ (hummingbirds). I wrote this song about resilience, the search for belonging, and the duality of finding freedom while battling inner demons. Through the lens of motorcycle culture and Southwestern folklore, I wanted to paint a picture of a traveler who is physically in motion but spiritually seeking a place to land.

"At its core, ‘DESERT SONS (Ride On)’ is a gritty, atmospheric anthem about resilience, the search for belonging, and the duality of finding freedom while battling inner demons. Through the lens of motorcycle culture and Southwestern folklore, the lyrics paint a picture of a traveler who is physically in motion but spiritually seeking a place to land."

I wanted to release this song from the forthcoming album as the FIRST single because it speaks to the concept of kindreds spirits finding their way. This song, and the album as a whole, is a celebration of collaboration. Firstly, I want to thank BRYAN DAVIS for his incredible guitar playing on this song and for his dedication and support in the making of the new album!

Always proud of my daughter. I applaud her courage to continue to raise awareness and speak out against gun violence in NM. Her immense creativity and unwavering leadership played a key role in bringing to life an interactive mural that allowed young people to express themselves in an impactful way, to remember those WE have lost to senseless violence and to always say their names. Students from ACE Leadership High School and artist facilitator Warren Montoya of Rezonate Art created the mural, which took about a year to complete. Thank you, kiddo, for standing up, for speaking up and for saying your little brother's name. RIP Tristan 💔

@luckymaysmusic took a moment from playing to look lovingly at the families and friends that had gathered to see he and @sunyotewild perform. He commented on the love and support, not just for himself, but the bonds the audience felt among them. I couldn’t help but smile.
