I knew we wouldn’t have her for long, because Baby (Scrappy) couldn’t really walk nor fly. We wanted to give her the best life of tasty food and infinite kisses to bring happiness to a bird that had little in this life to live for. We lost her this morning, even after thinking she was showing signs of improvement from an infection with much activity and increased appetite. I had a bad feeling and tried to feed her late last night to give her a little extra strength but she just wanted to sleep. Since it was late, I just kept her warm and put her in a cage bundled up in her favorite blanket. It was the first time I saw Baby tuck her head around like a normal mejiro sleeping but didn’t think it was going to be her last. I hope she is now soaring above us with strong limbs, happy forever. We will miss you Baby, and will love you to the end of time. by @luckythemejiro

Our little Baby (now almost one and a half years old) had her foot amputated to separate her from the nest that fell out of the tree with her deceased sibling. She is missing a wing because it somehow got broken as well so she will never fly or even hop around like a normal bird. So she seems to like it when I hold her and simulate flying or put her in a sleigh like this one and drive her around. Maybe one day, she will be delivering presents to children in her posh new ride! Our little baby in #Hawaii seems to be comfortable in her new @sumikkogurashi_official costume on her new bed.
