In five days I drove from Broome, Western Australia, to Edith Falls, Northern Territory and now I can give you a run down of everything on the way! 🌙
My first stop was a free camp from wikicamps, 5 hours from Broome and this one was stunning. You park right next to a gorgeous drop down off the cliff and wake up to the warm morning sun glowing over the range
In the morning I continued and just before Kununurra I saw a turn off for Molly Springs, with no knowledge of what it was I chucked a U-ie and went to take a look. At this point it was 35 degrees and I’d spent 6 hours driving in that heat, with the engine under my bum radiating more heat so the dip in cool water was incredible.
In Kununurra I went to see Lake Argyle for sunset which if I’m being honest, isn’t all it’s made up to be. Across every view point is big fences, wire, ugly signs etc getting in the way of the view and it felt like the only good view must be inside of the caravan park. I’m always disappointed when hyped up nature spots turn out to be over commercialised and man made.
The following morning I woke early and headed to Mirima National Park, it was beautiful and had gorgeous views over the landscape. I also got to see some aboriginal hand print art against the rocks and some cute friends.
After this I crossed my first border into the NT, Mataranka had been on my list of must-see places for years and I was very excited to see it, but much like Lake Argyle it was over commercialised and felt lacking in nature, its very small and you have to go through a caravan park to see it 😳
Edith falls was another unplanned stop but it may just be my favourite spot yet so I’m so glad I took that chance and followed a random sign!

Oh my god, the road into Hamersley Gorge was 4wd only when I went but I just couldn’t miss out so I took the van anyway 😵‍💫 it took me way longer than it should’ve to arrive but wow was it so worth it and I’m so glad I did it! As you can see from this photo it’s just incredible!!
Day 14 Karijini 🏜️

Fern Pool (swam and sat under the waterfall)
Fortrescue Falls Hike (in my socks no shoes because I didn’t want to get my white shoes dirty in the water and red dirt paths 😂 yes my feet were very sore by the end!!)

So many sea potato skeletons here!! And so many sharks that swimming is banned and you can see them when you walk on the beach. Eighty mile is known for being a pupping zone!

If you’re planning on doing a whale shark swim just beware that it’s not like the photos, you don’t get much time in the water and even if you prepay the photos you may be unlucky like me and not get one, that left me a little broken hearted but it was still cool.
