My sweet daddy, Euylas Burton, may he rest in peace. It’s disorienting to be without a parent on this side of heaven. I don’t feel equipped to be alone, absent from their guidance or protection, as crazy as that may sound. But I take an immense amount of comfort in that he’s no longer in pain - emotional or physical - he’s with Jesus, my momma, my grandparents, and of course my Addie. I hope he finally has an answer to his question as to why dinosaurs aren’t mentioned in the Bible and I am certain that if there is hunting in heaven - that’s what he’s doing right now. I love you, daddy. I’m so proud to be yours and I will forever cheer for your Ole Miss Rebels even though it aggravates the fire out of Kemp.

Arrangements are as follows:
Fisher Riles Funeral Home on Indiana Avenue in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Visitation on Friday, January 23, from 9-11 am
Services begin at 11:00 followed by a procession to the graveside at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Phoenix, Mississippi where he will be buried beside my momma. by @lucycason

I remember when I was in Italy on a Franciscan Pilgrimage with our friends from Tampa’s Sacred Heart Catholic Church in October of 2014, we finished the trip with the Papal Audience. I stood for hours in Vatican Square in the spot FrG selected for me to get “the shot.” I waited and waited. And when he turned the corner in his open “Pope Mobile” I was ready. I was in position with my camera up to my eyes…I was getting the shot. Then I saw him. My hands started shaking. So much so I could not get my camera to focus. I knew I was in the presence of a truly holy person - a servant of Jesus - and he had the most genuine smile on his face. I managed to get my camera to focus, somewhat. It could have been better as he passed right in front of me. But, more important than the capture, was the deep prayer that his presence motivated in me to pray for the leadership of this man to guide us closer to God. And he certainly did. Rest in peace, Pope Francis. Pray for us. #High5Jesus by @lucycason
