This summer, Ben and I lived at his family’s cabin, and we found ourselves to be at war with the chipmunks and other rodents who desired the comfortable living the cabin had to offer. One day, when I was sick with a kidney infection and was on day 4 of laying in bed, I got to thinking about the chipmunks, as I heard them giggling in their little shrill voices outside my window. I almost felt bad for them, wishing they could have a nice place to live too, and although I didn’t build one, I decided to draw one for them. So, here is the Fernwood family, made up of Mom and Dad, Otis, Oliver, and Dove, and here is their cozy forest abode.

It was so fun to focus on new mediums (however digital) in Procreate! I logged 18 hours on this one, and I’m sure there will be more to come of the Fernwoods.

This sad little duck was my homework assignment for the week. I’m in a class all about color! This is a monochromatic piece focused on values. What should his name be?👀🦆 by @lucyclaireart

Got home from our Tetons backpacking trip and was a bit hesitant to pull my painting out of my backpack after another 6 miles and 5,000 feet of descent. But I built up the guts and tore off the layers and layers of plastic wrap I wrapped it in to protect it and SHE LIVED!!

And here is part of the process after we got home.
