Cheltenham Lit Fest - it’s always a good time 🤩📚

We had loads of fun at events with @kwebberwanders @jabberworks @harrietmuncaster @johngreenart @andyday81 @emmaswanauthor @katiekirbyauthor not forgetting @zohra_nabi brilliant school’s event (we would not have survived as Victorian street children, Zohra!)

It was lovely to spend time with @clarehelenwelsh @thefairytalemum @missdorransclassroom @mrsbrownsbookbox @melissakayvalente and @lucymayrowland and the absolute highlight of my festival was seeing the fabulous @claire.l.gordon.writes speaking about her writing journey 🤩

It was also lovely to bump into @_tarasteaching - we’ll meet somewhere more glam next time… 😂

The Sunday Letter Project had the most BEAUTIFUL installation at the Chelt Lit Fest this year. I enjoyed the experience of writing a letter to a stranger and it got me thinking about letters I have sent and received – the obligatory post-Christmas thank you notes, chatty letters to elderly relatives, diary-style ramblings to a teenage pen-pal and, above all, much- treasured letters of condolence.

It is 24 years almost to the day since my mum died and I have kept every note I received. I also now have the letters of condolence that were cherished by my grandparents. Each one is thoughtfully crafted; filled with emotion, kindness and, above all, love. Somehow the careful formation of the author’s handwriting conveys a unique depth of emotion and feels like a warm hand-hold from afar even after all these years.

Happy publication day to this lovely book!

There are all sorts of homes in Together Street including a barge, a block of flats, a camper van and a shelter for people experiencing hard times. Whatever type of home you live in, one thing is for sure… everyone belongs! 🤗

As Ash takes new neighbour Nell on a walk along Together Street they meet friendly and helpful neighbours in all sorts of different homes. They seem to be busy planning a surprise along the way. A welcome party for Nell and her family! 🎉

Brimming with warmth and inclusion, this joyfully illustrated picture book is a true celebration of friendship and community.

What a lovely afternoon at the Childrens Publishing Picnic!

Such a treat to see so many kidlit friends old and new. Including the total legend that is @eileenbrowneauthor 🤩

Went too quickly and didn’t get to chat properly to everyone, but lovely to briefly see @lanishanicole @sital_gorasia_chapman @pollypoem @mattbawler @thefairytalemum @papercatbooks @nataschabiebow and to wave across the park to @mariesadulak among others!

And to meet @raggyrat who made our super cute plush Little Wolf (based on @_katiecottle ‘s incredible illustrations) and see her latest creation - Witchy Boo (by @ardenelizajones and @saoirselouscribbles )

I also only took 2 photos but thanks to @lucyfalkner @mrs_meikle_writes @ardenelizajones and @melissakayvalente who kindly shared some of their pics with me.

A Love as Full as the Moon (Puffin, 2026) is a heartwarming celebration of family love, self-acceptance and identity.

Luna’s family are different in lots of ways. She wraps dumplings with Poh Poh, plays dragons with Kong Kong and helps Grannie knit jumpers. Luna loves spending time with all of them and their love for her shines bright like the full moon.

However, when Luna takes her beloved Moon Rabbit to school for Show and Tell, she faces difficult questions about her family and begins to lose confidence in her mixed heritage identity.

As both sides of Luna’s family come together to celebrate the Moon Festival, Luna learns that it’s the love her her family that makes her who she is and, once more, her heart shines bright like the full moon.

What a fabulous night celebrating the launch of How to Scare Blue Monster by the wonderful Petr Horáček 💫

This is a heartwarming and funny story of friendship, perfect for opening discussions about what it means to be scared. We can’t wait to add it to our school library 📖

If you are ever in Oxford then you MUST visit Xander at his brilliant indie bookshop, Caper. It’s the most fun and welcoming bookish space - he even has a fridge for the cool books 😎

Stanley is a boy who just can’t stop saying ‘NO!’

Stanley is hilariously defiant although ‘NO!’ does get him into a spot of bother… 👿

This is a laugh-out-loud story about the perils of always saying ‘no’ and will have children and grown ups giggling together - just as it should be! 😆

Congratulations to my fabulous book buddy @mrsmeiklewrites and her monstrously brilliant creative partner @denisillustrates on a sensational debut.
