Our Executive Chef @guy_owen headed over the water this weekend to take to the stage @faloysterfest. Guy cooked Monkfish tail in ghee with chilli and lime for the crowd to try. While Sous Chef Rhys took part in the Oyster Shucking Competition proudly claiming 3rd place. What a great weekend celebrating our native Fal oyster.

I loved this shoot.

5:30am start with directions to a flower field somewhere on the Roseland Peninsula. “I’ll meet you there early to harvest before the day gets too hot”.

3 years ago a few of us helped Nicola celebrate the purchase of this field, what was back then nothing more than a meadow with potential. 3 years later and she has transformed it into an incredibly productive ‘little farm’ bursting with colour and fresh produce, even in the midst of a heatwave summer. Ask her how and she will tell you it’s largely thanks to her permaculture techniques and organic growing principles. It’s clear there’s been a lot of hard graft and dedication too.

On the morning of our shoot, Nicola harvested bucketfuls of dahlias, cosmos, and zinnias, while I photographed her at work. I often get asked what kind of photography I do. This, this is what I do best - documentary photography that tells a story of what people do, especially those that work the land and sea, and those that use their hands to produce and create. Which makes sense given my background making tv documentaries.

Nowadays storytelling is critical for business owners. It’s not enough to have a great product or service. Potential customers want to know the story behind it too. They want to know you and why you do what you do. In a world full of AI, customers are looking for human stories they can connect with.

I know it’s just another thing on the long list of stuff we have to do as small business owners. But have your photos taken. Let me help you feel proud to tell your story.

Oh Portscatho 💙

The perfect afternoon and evening in one of our favourite places, with a lot of our favourite people.

Golden light bathing the harbour. Sea shanties from @harbourclubportscatho filling the air. Ice cream moustaches from delicious @scathosgelato. Doesn’t get any better.

Long summer days in St Mawes.

Early mornings on my own just me and my camera watching the village awake. Then home to bake the bread.

Golden evenings on the beach with the kids and visiting friends and family. Late bedtimes without the pressure of school tomorrow.

I don’t know which is my favourite. All of it, this golden summer is my favourite!

➡️ Don’t miss the swimmer with her cup of coffee and ‘pet’ seagull just chilling on the rocks together!

Good Morning St Mawes!

I’ve done 5 early morning photo walks this week. The 4:45am alarm is almost always worth it. Although perhaps not on Tuesday, swipe to the end to see!

There’s a cruise ship in the bay today. It’ll be a busy day in Falmouth, and hopefully some visitors to St Mawes too.

Heatwave days on the water.

I’m not sure I can remember when it started. And I certainly don’t want it to end. Long dreamy days of summer spent on and in the water. Ferry adventures to far off beaches. Sun cream skin and salty hair. Constant requests for ice cream.

School finished yesterday, but it feels like we’ve been on holiday forever. The joy of Cornwall.

Falling in love with where we live all over again.

It’s easy to get into a habit of doing the same walks and beach trips, especially with children. It’s been a while since we went down to St Just in Roseland for an afternoon high tide. I’d forgotten quite how beautiful it is.

A sunny weekend very happily spent.

Weekend Escapism.

Last weekend didn’t start off well, a stressful work week overflowing into Saturday morning. But by Sunday evening I felt like I’d been on holiday. That is the magic of Cornwall, and very special friends.

We discovered a new (to us) walk @philleighwaywood. The kids roamed the woods and explored the riverbank. I took 100s of photos. And we all enjoyed time with our favourite people. Finished with a delicious pub lunch in a sunny beer garden @roselandinn_phileigh.

The perfect weekend escapism.

What would your dream garden look like?

Mine would probably be something like this. A garden studio with Oxeye daisies dancing at the window. Cosy terraces filled with thoughtfully curated planting. And Erigeron covered steps leading down to the water’s edge.

Another wonderful shoot with Lucinda @stmawesscentroom, this time for the launch of her fabulous new scent Freshwater. Thank you Lucinda for trusting me with your precious creations. And thank you @carolynadlington for a blissful afternoon taking photographs in your gorgeous garden.

A week of sunshine, pirates, and classic cars in beautiful St Mawes!

Spent more time than I’d have liked at my desk, but also managed 2 lovely evenings down by the harbour with children and camera. I love this time of year when the village bursts back into life and suddenly St Mawes is the place to be 💙

Breakfast with a view.

Does it get better than that?! Our B&B sits right at the end of Cornwall’s Roseland Peninsula, looking out over St Mawes harbour, and to the sea beyond.

On a sunny day I like to serve guest breakfast on the balcony. It’s the perfect spot to watch the world sail by with coffee and a home cooked breakfast.
