Check out @lucykenny’s x @yolojournal list - her fave places to eat, drink and stay in Cape Town. Lucy’s early life unfolded across three continents before she turned ten. “Living in Johannesburg, California, and Hertfordshire was an accidental education in contrast and probably why I’m so drawn to places with character. There’s something about the spirit here, the light, the people, the slight unruliness of it all – it just makes sense. Cape Town is the home I chose” To see Lucy’s full list, link in bio @yolojournal YOLO Journal is an independent travel and lifestyle publication known for its thoughtful, insider-led perspective on destinations. Rather than traditional guidebook content, it leans into personal recommendations from creatives and tastemakers. If you haven’t, it’s worth a subscribe. by @lucykenny
When I started AVENUE, it was with a fairly equal mix of wild optimism and mild terror. Twelve years in, I’ve realised that particular combination is actually just life when you run your own shop. In honour of Entrepreneurs’ Day, we thought we’d share some sage advice from a few of the exceptional entrepreneurs I’ve watched, admired and had the pleasure of working with along the way. Wishing all the entrepreneurs out there continued courage. Some projects are worth dressing up for. The launch of Louis Vuitton’s magnificent new Cape Town store was definitely one of them. 6 years after we started working with @louisvuitton this marks a milestone moment for the brand in South Africa! Huge thanks for being the BEST team to work with and your trust in us to deliver such a special moment. Running away together seemed easier than therapy. by @lucykenny
I’ll always seek a personal recommendation over anything else,” says Lucy. “Whether it’s the best table in the city or a product worth trying, sharing things you genuinely love feels like a small act of generosity.” Which is how Lucy Loves began. This month, from @farro_foodandwine, “one of my favourite places to eat in the city” to @aninebingofficial’s custom denim embroidery jeans, have a peek at Lucy’s list. by @lucykenny
The AVENUE office has taken up official residence at The Corner Store! In the area and want to break bread? Come have a coffee with us @lionsbread.ct 🍑 @thecornerstoreonbree - 164 Bree Street by @lucykenny
What more could we ask for! ❤️‍🔥⛱️ “And in other news, the hippest item of design to take over Cape Town is what I call my “nonna gown”, the beach set’s new uniform, dreamed up by a clever friend who understands that comfort = chic. Locally made and released in limited drops, they’re designed for post-swim drifting and barefoot coffee runs. My favourite detail is the care label, which reads like life advice: “Take Care of You. Wash me in cool water, eat the croissant, call your mother, SPF, always. We love you.” The Valentine’s Love Drop arrives in scarlet red with bubblegum-pink trim. Available at The Corner Store from 11 February. Quantities, as ever, are strictly limited. JOIN THE CLUB! @thecornerstoreonbree 164 Bree Street by @lucykenny
Now this was a TREAT. The most memorable hike up Table Mountain and an overnight stay at Overseers cottage. Special friends. Icy G&Ts. Sunset & sunrise. Swims in the dam. A sea of twinkling lights. An entirely new perspective on a city that’s been home for 20 years. Thank you x1000 @tammytinker @npudel 💛 With kids and jobs and the general business of being a grown up, I know routine is a sort of necessary scaffolding. But novel lights me up. I feel so fortunate to live in a city that offers that daily to those that call it home. Say yes more I say! by @lucykenny
