2026 Sydney marathon for children with cancer uk ❤️❤️❤️
The best experience I could ask for. I ran my heart out for my best friend today and I couldn’t be happier. The atmosphere was electric and I was so happy to run for something bigger than myself. Katie I love you and 2026 Sydney is a memory I will never forget! by @lucyomarcus

2026 Sydney Marathon🏃‍♀️

At age of 3 my best friend Katie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic Leukemia.

SNTS Dance school was the start of it all and where I met one of the most important people in my life. My friendship with Katie started when I forgot my pencil doing homework in the cafe before my dance class. I stumbled across Katie also doing homework and asked to borrow one of hers. This was not only the start of homework club but also one of the most meaningful friendships. I knew we would grow up side by side, spending countless hours together with homework club before dance lessons, crazy play dates at our house and pushing through long rehearsals before big shows. Our friendship has been unbreakable even since moving to Boston. Katie isn’t just someone I met at dance - she’s my best friend.

Even at such a young age, she went through something no child should ever have to face. And yet, through it all she always had a smile. Katie is so focused on others and making people laugh and being the type of person to turn your day around in an instant. We were known as the goofy two in the room and our parents can vouch for our mischievous adventures like getting slime stuck to my ceiling or in our hair. Louise, Katies mum always knew to bring a second change of clothes whenever Katie and I were together.

I’m running the 2026 Syndey marathon for Katie’s story and for every child who is still in the middle of theirs. Katie is still dealing with the implications of harsh chemotherapy and the effects of cancer treatment.

I’m running for the doctors, the research, and the charities like Children with Cancer UK that make survival possible. I’m running for the families still waiting for better answers, better treatments, and better outcomes.

Every mile will remind me of Katie’s strength - not just in surviving, but in the way she lived with joy and smiling through it all even in the toughest moments. Katie has been my rock and has been there in ways nobody can imagine and now it’s my turn to show how much her story means to me. I am so proud to run this marathon for children with cancer and to represent Team Katie.
