Miss Honey 🍯 2027 @matildathemusical

Feeling very grateful and so excited to be starting rehearsals shortly with this new wonderful cast. Heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the team at Matilda & the RSC for being so open and supportive in making everything work and fit into place. Allowing me to rehearse over the summer, having a brief pause to be fully present at home as a new Mum for the remainder of my son’s first precious year, then step into this role in the New Year!

If I’m honest I didn’t really know how I would feel stepping back in the audition room, never mind on stage so soon.
I’ve been so torn, as theatre has been my life and love for so long but when my son was born, he has honestly become my entire world and the thought of leaving him felt impossible. But then this role came up, and I went through the most supportive, welcoming casting process. I felt accepted and seen by the team and producers and it all felt like this was happening for a reason and I was meant to be in this position right now.

I am still solely breastfeeding so It is a gift to be able to have my son with me on this journey as I learn about the new normal of ‘working mum life’. Navigating the ups and downs, the do’s the don’ts, mixed in with every emotion possible. It is daunting and exciting but an adventure I feel passionate about making a reality.

There’s still a long way to go in this industry for working parents and it’s still such a taboo subject but everyone at the RSC have been amazing. I truly hope more follow suit, more conversations start happening, more changes are made so that producers can help keep pushing our industry forward positively in the right direction, making it possible to work in our industry with a family. 💜 taken in Matilda The Musical by @lucystlouis

🤍 Feeling very reflective today as I enter into my 3rd trimester!

I cannot believe what a journey this has been. I feel so proud and beyond grateful that I got to sing and dance my heart out onstage every night right up until I was 6 months pregnant, without having a single day off!!! It was so bittersweet saying farewell to a role, show and company I never realised I needed so much for my soul especially during this extraordinary life changing time.

I never normally do this but as I was reflecting on my time with “Top Hat” AND growing a tiny human, I wanted to share one of my most favourite and special moments in the show.

Getting to sing this exquisite song every night and feeling my little one move with me as I sang, was one of those magical moments that I will never ever get over, also whilst knowing most people in the audience had no idea.

The freedom I had reworking this song with the incredible @garethvalentine28 has made me want to record a jazz album. I loved singing these songs so much. Maybe that might just be the next collaborative & creative project on the horizon next for me, who knows??? All I know is that I love this song, and as I listen to it now “bump” is dancing their heart out recognising Mummies voice! 🥹

I wanted for you all to have a glimpse into my take on playing Dale Tremont in Top Hat singing 🎶 “Better luck next time”🎶 🎩 Have a listen, knowing my little one was with me every step of the way. ✨

Throwing it back to a much needed weekend away in Madrid, where Ben and I stumbled across this beautiful wishing shop! ✨
You write down your wish, attach it to anything, anywhere in the shop, make a donation, ring the bell and send your wish up into the universe.
