A special invitation from co-curator, Ludlow Bailey, to Srimati Syamarani Dasi’s upcoming exhibition, ‘Song of the Soul’ hosted at the Marshall L. Davis, Sr. African Heritage Cultural Arts Center. RSVPs are now open (at the link in our bio) for our special opening celebration night on September 11.

The Bhagavad-Gita is one of the world’s oldest spiritual texts, a conversation between Krishna and the warrior Arjuna about duty, fear, and how to act in this material world.

‘Song of the Soul’ brings this story to life through six decades of devotional paintings by Her Grace Srimati @syamaranidasi, alongside music, photography, and multimedia installations.

This is the first time this collection of her Gita paintings has been shown at this scale in public.

Don’t miss opening night on Friday, September 11, 6 to 9 pm, with a meet and greet with Gurudevi, a guided art talk, live kirtan, and a free vegan and vegetarian prasadam meal.

Admission is free, but we do need an RSVP so we can prepare enough prasadam for everyone joining us 🙏

Song of the Soul runs September 11 through October 31 at the Marshall L. Davis Sr. African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, 6161 NW 22nd Avenue, Miami.

I am pleased to be concluding my brief lecture tour of the United States with the third in a series of talks — this time at Florida International University.

An Evening with Oliver Enwonwu will explore the life, legacy, and enduring relevance of Ben Enwonwu within the broader framework of African modernism. The conversation will reflect on artistic inheritance, cultural memory, and the positioning of modern African art within global art history.

I am grateful to CADA for organising this last talk and to the Public Humanities Lab at Florida International University for creating space for this important dialogue.

Art and Soul at The Perez. It is rooted in enchanting black visual culture and beautiful African Diasporic people. It reminds me of the best times during the era of Mansa Musa and the Mali Empire. The best is yet to come. by @ludlowebailey
