As someone passionate about education, I believe that alongside English proficiency, financial literacy is one of the most important life skills young people need today. Many secondary school students and undergraduates graduate with little or no knowledge of budgeting, saving, investing, and building wealth.

🚨 Stop saying these two sentences mean the same thing—they don't.

📝 I go to school. ≠ I am going to school.

One talks about a habit or routine.
The other talks about what is happening right now.

✅ I go to school. → Simple Present Tense
I do it regularly.

✅ I am going to school. → Present Continuous Tense
I'm on my way to school or in the process of going.

A single helping verb (am) completely changes the meaning of the sentence.

Master this difference, and your English will sound more natural and accurate.

😂 Plot twist: You've been blessing people without even realising it.

Every time you say 'goodbye,' you're actually using a phrase that started as 'God be with ye.' Over time, people got lazy (or just efficient 😅), and it shrank into the 'goodbye' we know today.

So the next time you say 'goodbye', remember it equals 'God be with you.' And that's an awesome parting word to leave someone with until you both meet again.

🚨 You've been lied to about English tenses!

Did you know English has only TWO true tenses?

✅ Present ✅ Past

That's it.

'But what about the future?' 🤔

Here's the surprise: English has no future tense verb form.

We talk about the future by using will + the base (present) form of the verb:

✔️ I will go. ✔️ She will arrive. ✔️ They will study.

Notice that go, arrive, and study are all in their base (present) form. The word will signals future time—it doesn't create a separate future-tense verb.

Understanding this simple rule can completely change the way you think about English grammar.

🥦 You've probably been saying this word wrong your whole life!

It's VEJ-tuh-buhl /ˈvedʒ.tə.bəl/ — not vege-table or vegee-table.

The middle syllable is reduced, so native speakers pronounce it with three syllables, not four.

✅ Vegetable → VEJ-tuh-buhl

Say it with me:
🗣️ VEJ – tuh – buhl

Did you just pronounce the "L" in salmon? 👀🐟

That tiny letter has been tricking English learners for years!

✅ Correct pronunciation: /ˈsæmən/ → SAM-uhn ❌ Not: SAL-mon

The L is silent, so pretend it isn't there at all.

Here are a few more words with silent letters: 🔹 calm → the L is silent 🔹 half → the L is silent 🔹 walk → the L is silent.

🎯 Pronunciation isn't about saying every letter—it's about saying the word the way native English uses it.

🚨 STOP saying "axe" when you mean "ask"! 👀

This tiny pronunciation mistake can change how people perceive your English.

✅ Ask = /ɑːsk/ or /æsk/ (the S comes before the K sound)
❌ Axe = /æks/ (the K sound comes before the S sound)

They are two completely different words:
🗣️ Can I ask you a question?
🪓 He used an axe to cut the tree.

💡 Here's the trick:
Say the S before the K when you pronounce ask:
A...S...K → ask

Save this post, practise it aloud, and send it to someone who always says "axe" instead of "ask." 😉

SAY IT RIGHT!

Small prepositions can make a big difference in English.

Many learners say, 'She is married with a doctor,' but standard English is:

✅ 'She is married to a doctor.'

We use married to, not married with, to describe someone's spouse.

Mastering these little grammar points will make your English sound more natural and more confident.

Sometimes, it's the smallest words—or even a single letter—that make the biggest difference in English.

Here's today's challenge:
❌ 'I'm very busy in work.'
✅ 'I'm very busy at work.'
❌ 'Can you give me some advise?'
✅ 'Can you give me some advice?'

💡 Remember: We say at work, not in work, when talking about being at your workplace. Advice (with c) is a noun: Can you give me some advice? Advise (with s) is a verb: I advise you to study harder.

These are common mistakes, but now you know better!
