Marriage Tip of the day!

Working out together is basically foreplay that comes with a receipt.

You get to watch your person sweat, grunt, and look stupid-strong for an hour… then both of you pretend you’re “too tired” to do anything else the second you get home.

the only PR that actually matters is who falls a sleep faster after the gym 🤣🤣🤣

Happy Birthday to my princess 12 years old today.

You are my world, and you mean more to me than I could ever put into words. From the moment you arrived, you changed everything in the best way, and every day since has been brighter because you’re in it.

You keep this whole house laughing with your silliness those random little moments, the faces, the energy you bring that just lightens the mood no matter what kind of day it’s been. And you keep us loving harder because of that huge heart of yours. Even with the sassy attitude (which I secretly love), you care so deeply for the people around you. You’re thoughtful, you’re kind, and you make everyone feel seen.

Smart, beautiful, and caring that’s you, through and through. Watching you grow into the young lady you’re becoming fills me with so much pride, even while part of me wants to freeze time. Please stop growing up so fast. Stay my little girl just a little longer.

I love you more than you’ll ever know. Happy 12th birthday, princess. Today is all about you. by @luifit615

Week 9 is where ACL rehab stops looking dramatic and starts being disciplined.

The graft is in and the limp is mostly gone. That is progress, not clearance. A quadriceps-tendon graft is still remodeling. Strength can come back faster than the tissue matures, so feeling ahead of protocol is not the same as the knee being ready for the old version of you.

Strength is being built on purpose. Closed-chain work, controlled eccentrics, progressive load on the operated leg, rower and upper body so the rest of you does not disappear. The simple stuff still gets done every day: full extension, a quiet walk, a quad that fires before the hip cheats, balance and step-downs that stay aligned. Those are not warm-ups you graduate from. They are the base.

Ahead of protocol means gait, range, and control are running in front of the calendar. It does not shorten biology. Most return-to-sport timelines still sit around 9 to 12 months because cutting and planting ask for remodeled tissue, not just a leg that can lift.

The mind is the part that wants to negotiate. Week 9 is long enough that the surgery drama is gone and the patience is still due. Same simple work. Same strength session. Add load only when the knee stays quiet the next day. Consistency is the method. Motivation shows up after the rep.

My ACL wasn’t an injury. It was an interruption. The body finally said what the mind had been whispering for years slow down. And in the stillness, I found myself again.

Not the version that runs. Not the one who pushes through pain because that’s what strong people do. But the one who loves. Who shows up as a friend, as a husband, as a man learning to be gentle with his own heart.

The injury took my speed. It gave me back my soul.

I spent so long moving fast that I forgot to notice what was right in front of me the people who stayed, the quiet moments, the way my chest feels when I finally breathe. My mental health stopped being something I managed and became something I tended. Mindfulness stopped being a buzzword and became a lifeline. Love stopped being something I gave away and started being something I kept for myself.

I had to love myself a little more. Not because I was broken, but because I finally saw what was worth protecting.

The road back is long. The scar will fade. But the man who walks out of this slower, softer, more present that’s the one I was always meant to become. taken in Amped Fitness by @luifit615

Nobody sees the days you almost skipped.
They only see the version of you that kept going.
Protect your peace. Train your mind. Finish the set.

Lil Wayne and 2 chains. 1st concert. Even though that mofo had us waiting for like 2 hrs it was still a great time and he stayed on stage until we were ready to go.

Thank you to my friends for making this weekend such a great vibe. Love you all!

Week 7 sliding into week 8.

Phase 3 isn’t the highlight reel. It’s the quiet, unglamorous work of teaching a reconstructed knee how to be a knee again.

Strength is coming back. Neuromuscular control is the real fight the conversation between brain and joint that got ripped apart, then surgically rebuilt, then protected for weeks. Every single-leg stance, every slow eccentric, every controlled squat is me asking the system to trust itself again. Not just get stronger. Get smarter. Get coordinated. Get ready.

I didn’t get here by wishing. I got here by showing up when it still felt foreign, when the quad still lagged, when the brace came off and the real work started. No shortcuts. No skipping the ugly reps. Just daily 1%. Ice, movement, food, rest, prayer, then do it again.

This injury took more than a ligament. It took speed, certainty, and the version of me that thought I was invincible on the court with my son. What it gave back is perspective I couldn’t have bought. Slowness. Discipline. A reminder that the body is a gift, not a guarantee. That God will pause you when you’re moving too fast and force you to rebuild from the inside out.

I’m not “back.” I’m becoming. Stronger in places that don’t show on Instagram. More patient with the process. More grateful for the people who carried the load when I couldn’t stand on two good legs. More locked in on the shop, the family, the long game.

Phase 3 is where the comeback stops being a slogan and starts being a habit.

If you’re in it too stay in the work. The strength will come. The control will come. The fear leaves when you keep proving to yourself that you can still move.

One day at a time. One rep at a time. Still here. Still building. taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @luifit615

Phase 3. Now we build.

The protection phase is over.
The careful, cautious weeks have done their job.
Now the real work begins loading the joint, rebuilding the quads, earning trust in the graft one controlled rep at a time.
This isn’t the glamorous part.

It’s the quiet grind. The progressive overload. The days that feel slow but are stacking strength you’ll need later.

No rushing. No forcing.

Just showing up and getting stronger than before.

Phase 3.
Where the rebuild actually starts.

Six weeks post-ACL reconstruction.

The brace is officially off.
There’s a quiet shift when the hard plastic comes off for good. No fanfare, but something changes in how you move and how you see yourself.

For six weeks the brace was both protector and reminder. It controlled range, reduced risk, and made every step deliberate. Taking it off doesn’t mean the work is done. The scaffolding is gone. Responsibility now shifts inward to the lagging quads, the hamstrings, the disrupted sense of balance, and the mental map of what “safe” feels like.

By this point most people have near-full extension, improving flexion, less swelling, and a cleaner gait, though fatigue and strength gaps remain. The graft is still remodeling and vulnerable. PT moves from pure protection into progressive strength and balance work. The urge is to push harder. The smarter choice is usually to respect the slower internal timeline.

Removing the brace also removes a visible marker of injury. That can feel freeing and slightly unsettling. Progress is real, yet the gap to pre-injury capacity is still large. This phase asks for consistency over intensity, careful load management, and honesty about residual fear. The fear isn’t weakness it’s information.

Six weeks is a milestone, not a finish line. The early protective phase has done its job. What remains is quieter and more demanding: rebuilding capacity day by day and treating the knee less like a project to finish and more like a system still under construction.

The scaffolding is gone. The real structure is still being built.

Even 6 weeks after ACL reconstruction, the grind never stopped. It got sharper.

Recovery forced structure and discipline I couldn’t negotiate with. Being hurt made me more consistent, not less because the hunger to get better left no room for excuses. Now the real work is keeping that same standard once the urgency of injury fades.

Why does it so often take something bad before we finally do more of what we already knew we needed? When we’re healthy, comfort and “later” feel safe. Progress stays optional. Adversity makes the cost of coasting real and immediate. Suddenly the work becomes non-negotiable.

The injury didn’t create the capacity. It revealed it. The challenge is refusing to wait for the next setback to reinstall that intensity.

Stay disciplined when you’re up. Stay hungry when you’re healthy. The grind doesn’t need permission from pain.
