Guess who is running the NYC Marathon again?!

This year I’m celebrating 12 years in remission, the fact that I get to turn 42, and running my 7th marathon! 42 kilometers (that’s 26.2 miles for all the Yanks) for 42 years!

May Theatre Outings (and Innings)!

Have I mentioned how much I love living in NYC and having all this gloriousness in my backyard?!

I’ve been lucky enough to see literally hundreds of shows in my life, and the thrill of walking into a theatre, being handed my playbill, sitting in my seat, the lights going down, and worlds unfolding before me, never gets old.

THANK YOU for all the birthday love! Ya’ll sure know how to make a girl feel special and loved! It was a wonderful day. I ran 32km/20miles (going to a wedding on the weekend and needed to get this week’s long run in somehow!), crashed like a ton of bricks, and was treated to a lovely dinner at Lucille’s in Harlem with the excellent @jillamyw! 💖🎂 by @luisalyons

With thanks to 24 amazingly generous donors, I’ve raised $3000 towards blood cancer research with Fred’s Team!

Every dollar goes to vital research at MSK. There are nearly 2000 clinical trials at MSK, and the funds raised by Fred’s Team make progress possible.

12th cancerversary!!!

Cancerversary always brings up a lot of feelings. Grief. Frustration. Anger. Exhaustion. Disbelief. I still can’t quite believe I had motherforking blood cancer?! I still can’t quite believe I’m one of the lucky ones who beat the statistics and survived it. It changed my life in so many ways. The scars on my legs. Early menopause. Thyroid problems. Anxiety. So. Much. Heartbreak.

But I am oh so thankful thankful THANKFUL to be here. Tonight I’m in tech for the dance show (I’m dancing!). I’m in the woods surrounded by joyful creativity and some of the best and coolest people I know. I’m in training for the marathon. I’m working on a cabaret. I am HERE.

Thank you to Susannah Hershey for sneakily organizing a surprise cake (made by BR’s resident baker Michael, whose flourless chocolate cakes are the most insanely rich and decadent treats), and to my beautiful BR community for continuing to hold me.

Today was a VERY good NYC day! @masqueradenyc was EXTRAORDINARY. Hands down one of the best immersive theatre experiences I’ve ever had. I couldn’t stop smiling and also gasping in awe. Followed by lunch at Sardi’s because despite living here for 12 years I’ve never been! Thank you to @jillamyw for being an excellent theatre buddy! by @luisalyons
