it’s been a year since i played my last pro match not knowing it would be my last.

There was always this dream of being a pro tennisplayer. Competing in a grandslam. Winning a grandslam. Being world nr. 1
Since the beginning i was struggling. There was so much Pressure. Mentally and financially. Because man - playing on tour is expensive.
And of course Injuries. But the dream was still there. So i tried.
I did not succeed like i wanted to. I didn’t even win a title on tour. But you know what ? Tennis gave me sooo much more than scores, trophies or money. Since 20 years it has been there. Always. Tennis has been my rock ever since. I have met the most amazing people, my bestfriends. The opportunities and travels this sport gave me - insane. It got me through really difficult times. Even when i was just a child. Not knowing how much tennis is helping me in those moments.
It took me a year to accept that this chapter is over. I’m not gonna lie, it has been hard. I will be forever thankful for my family that they brought this amazing sport into my life. I’m also thankful for every single person who believed and supported me along the way. Lastly i want to thank myself. For believing in me, pushing through and always showing up. I’m proud that i’ve tried 🪽 Thank you Tennis. by @luisereisel
