Two years ago, when I was about to become a father, I made a decision that would change my life.

I wanted to take on something difficult—not just for myself, but to set an example for my son. I wanted him to grow up seeing that perseverance, discipline, and commitment aren’t things we talk about; they’re things we live.

At the time, I weighed around 220 lbs. I’ve always worked out, but I was looking for something that would challenge more than my body. I needed something that would test my mind, my character, and my ability to stay composed under pressure.

That’s when I found Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and @diegoasenjo

Today, at 182 lbs, I received my blue belt.

Of all the accomplishments in my life—including every academic degree I’ve earned—this milestone means more to me than any of them. Not because it’s harder than earning a degree, but because it represents something different: showing up consistently when nobody is watching, embracing discomfort, staying humble, and continuing to learn through failure.

Jiu-Jitsu has taught me how to stay calm in chaos, solve problems under pressure, and keep moving forward when things get uncomfortable. Those lessons extend far beyond the mats—they show up in business, marriage, fatherhood, and everyday life.

What makes today even more meaningful is that my son turns two years old.

This blue belt isn’t a finish line. It’s a reminder that growth comes from consistency, humility, and showing up day after day. The commitment is stronger than ever because it’s no longer just about me. It’s about my family, the example I want to set for my son, and the impact I want to make in the world.

Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep growing.

The journey continues. 🥋💙 taken in Asenjo Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by @luisfigfl

Inauguration Weekend – Part 2

As I reflect on the incredible experiences of the past few days, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to some key individuals who made this weekend even more special.

✨ Thank you to @garyberrios for your kind invitation to Senator @scottforflorida Sunshine Ball. It was an honor to attend such a prestigious event and share the evening with inspiring leaders committed to the future of our nation.

✨ A heartfelt thanks to @la_cubana_misfit Elisa Slider, Chairwoman of the RNHA, for her unwavering commitment and exceptional leadership in ensuring the success of the Latino Inaugural Ball. Her dedication to highlighting the contributions of the Hispanic community was pivotal to making this event truly unforgettable.

This weekend was a testament to the power of collaboration and shared values. I am grateful for the opportunities to connect, celebrate, and represent the Latino community during these historic moments. Here’s to building on this momentum as we move forward together!

Honored to attend the 96th Saudi National Day reception in Abu Dhabi, hosted by H.E. Sultan bin Abdullah Al Anqari, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Arab Emirates. The celebration brought together government officials, diplomats, business leaders, and friends from across the region in recognition of the Kingdom’s history, progress, and growing global role.

I was especially grateful for the opportunity to meet Ambassador Al Anqari and to reconnect with many leaders and colleagues throughout the evening.

A special thank you to my business collaborator @lenap_uae for the invitation and for helping make the evening possible.

Saudi Arabia’s transformation, investment ambitions, and expanding role across energy, technology, infrastructure, and global commerce continue to make the Kingdom one of the most important markets to watch in the years ahead.

Congratulations to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people on their National Day. taken in Fairmont Hotel, Abu Dhabi, UAE by @luisfigfl

An unforgettable afternoon at the White House celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.

It was especially meaningful to reconnect with so many friends, leaders, and familiar faces from across the country who are working every day in business, public service, faith, and our communities.

Thank you to President Donald J. Trump and Secretary Marco Rubio for hosting us at the White House and for recognizing the contributions, accomplishments, and growing leadership of Hispanic Americans.

Proud to represent the Republican National Hispanic Assembly and grateful for the opportunity to celebrate our heritage, our community, and the country we are proud to call home.

A very special way to close Hispanic Heritage Month.

God bless America. taken in The White House by @luisfigfl

Today I had the privilege of joining U.S. Senator Ashley Moody for a Hispanic leadership roundtable in Orlando, alongside RNHA National Political Adviser Carolina Amesty.

We brought together Hispanic business owners, professionals, pastors, and community leaders for a direct conversation about the economy, small business, affordability, public safety, and the future of Florida.

During the event, the Republican National Hispanic Assembly formally announced its endorsement of Senator Moody.

For me, this is what leadership should look like: bringing people to the table, listening to the concerns of our communities, and building stronger relationships between Hispanic leaders and those making decisions in Washington.

I am proud of the direction RNHA is taking and grateful to Senator Moody for engaging directly with our community.

The future will be shaped by those willing to organize, participate, and lead. by @luisfigfl

What an incredible experience! This was my first time serving as an election observer. Thanks to the guidance and invitation of the ICLC Election Observation Director @luis_encarn , we had the opportunity to observe the second round of the presidential elections in Colombia. I made many new friends and reconnected with some good friends I hadn’t seen in a while. taken in Bogota, Colombia by @luisfigfl

RNHA National Chairman Dr. Luis Figueroa had the honor of meeting with U.S. Senator Ashley Moody to discuss the future of Hispanic engagement, conservative leadership, and the importance of strengthening our movement across the country.

During the meeting, Chairman Figueroa presented Senator Moody with an official RNHA lapel pin as a symbol of our shared commitment to faith, freedom, opportunity, and strong American values.

Senator Moody also extended an invitation for the RNHA to meet with her in Washington, D.C., as we continue building relationships and advancing the voice of Hispanic conservatives at the national level.

The RNHA looks forward to working with leaders who are committed to serving the American people and strengthening our nation’s future.
