Thrilled to share the trailer of my new body of work “Sex in Space” now on view at @moca_busan as part of “Dissident Chorus”, the 14th Busan Biennial. This almost year-long project was only possible with the support of many collaborators, some old, some new. First of all, I would like to say a big THANK YOU to @evelyn_simons & @amalandaplan , who invited me and trusted in this project. THANK YOU for letting me take part in this powerful show. Sex in Space is a collection of ideas comprising architecture, exhibition design, sculpture and a cinematic love story about contamination and infestation. The film is a coproduction between @busanbiennale , @mendeswooddm , @islaflotante.galeria & @aberto.art . Special thanks to my liasion at MWDM @gbrlrt and the MWDM partner @juliagbmoreira , who was been involved since day one of this ambitious ( to me ) film project. Gracias @nani_pieceofcake Y @leopolmc, siempre conmigo siempre. Thanks @kmazzucchelli & @filipeaassis for giving me the chance to make a film inside the incredible Casa Bola designed by Eduardo Longo and thanks to the biennial production team. ENORMOUS thanks to @caiantoni , the post-producer supervisor and the one in charge of orchestrating an amazing group of talented and committed professionals that shaped Sex in Space so carefully : @_paulochedid 🩸( VFX ), @felipe_manoelf ( color ), @lucas.silva.campos ( Final look ) and @joneradj ( sound engineer) who created a beautiful soundscape with the music “Puro” loaned by my beloved @maviveloso Lastly, I’d like to thank @umpedrogallego who contributed props and editing, and also created this trailer, and to my dear friend @pedromolinoswork for his beautiful cinematography. And finally a big kiss to @bersouza , who inspired the title of the film, @isadoraganem , @csaquietti , @laurafuturo (porque sim porque sempre), @brunamac_ and @claracoelhoart ( the latter for being a long time supporter of my ceramic practice ). by @luiz_roque

Ready to takeoff? 🛩️ Join us for a special screening of works by Luiz Roque, co-presented by KADIST and Mendes Wood DM, as part of the artist’s research residency at KADIST Paris. → Wednesday, May 21, 2025 | 8–9:30 pm → Cinéma Reflet Médicis, Paris Roque’s short films hover between sculpture and cinema, weaving together queer futurisms, sci-fi allegories, and the ghostly ruins of modernism. Through carefully crafted visuals and soundtracks, his enigmatic characters—animals, drag performers, iconic buildings—inhabit suspended worlds that feel at once prehistoric and post-human. The screening will be followed by a conversation between the artist and Fernanda Brenner (Curator and Founding Director of Pivô, São Paulo), a Q&A with the audience, and the presentation of a video by Cecilia Bengolea. → Free admission – RSVP required to cecilia@mendeswooddm.com 🎞 Luiz Roque, Zero (2019), video stills I Courtesy the artist, KADIST collection @luiz_roque @mendeswooddm @kadistkadist @fe_brenner @ceciliabengolea @refletmedicis_cinema #screening #event #videoart #contemporaryart by @luiz_roque
