POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

1971 was a big year for Bahrain. In March, Walt Disney made a movie based in Bahrain, called “‘Hamad and the Pirates”. The story revolves around an orphaned Bahraini pearl diver captured by pirates, who have been stealing artifacts. In the end, Hamad saves the day, and the artifacts, which are then taken to the Bahrain Museum. The movie starred many familiar local names; Khalifa Shaheen as the Pirate Captain, Hilal bin Rashed Al Thawadi as the Pearl Captain, Isa Jowder as the Archeologist and Yousef Al Gaoud as the Caretaker, to name a few. A few moths later, on August 15th, 1971, Bahrain declared itself fully independent from the United Kingdom. George Washington once said “Liberty, when it begins to take root, is a plant of rapid growth”. In 1971, Bahrain was in glorious, full bloom.

The fairytale of Cannes, for me, is not about the dress or the red carpet. Don’t get me wrong, wearing a @thomasabrahamofficial gown and meeting the designer was a wonderful experience. Thank you Thomas- an honor.

For me, the thrill comes from knowing that I’ve just tread the same space as the creators of exciting new films, such as ‘Kinds of Kindness’ & ‘Furiosa’.

Thank you @missuniversebahrain, @joshyugen & @yugenpr for the invitation, for which otherwise, I wouldn’t have made it this year.

Cannes Film Festival, I’ll be seeing you again in the future. That’s a promise.

Last year I had the incredible opportunity to create my own dance film starring @darcy.serenbetz & @laylah.c.h , two inspiring performers who brought such magnetic energy to this piece. @grant.kaufman worked his magic and I was so grateful to work with someone that could elevate my vision
