Impermanence

Working with @crownmountainguides and @thelegsofsteel on “We Can’t Not” the past two seasons has been an amazing experience. Great people make ambitious things possible, and felt that affirmed with all of the staff at Crown, as well as the filmers, athletes, creatives, producers, etc that came together. Reflecting on this day from last February with @crownmountainguides @weazydavis and @leifmumma .. might’ve been the favorite of the season. Dream light, fluff snow, crystals lit up like shards of glass, gentle twack of cotton rocks against your jacket. More grounded. I hope you can do this in heaven taken in Palmer, Alaska by @lukabees

Crashing the @gopro #GoProMISSION1 ILS on my first shoot with it had me bummed. But then I thought- it’s still just a GoPro. Compared to the other camera + lens packages we use with higher ticket prices, the ILS packs a specific punch: Real lensing with a cost that still permits it to be fully sent.
Someone recently asked me why I still fly GoPros at all. The answer is an internal subconscious change. My risk tolerance changes, so the way I move the camera changes, and therefore the resulting shots change. Innovation takes risk.
For this reason, the mid-tier rig like the ILS + @venuslaowa 6mm T2.1 cine will always have a place. It’s just now they can cut better with other A-cams thanks to a look beyond the fisheye.
