Luke and his wife Elise built their whole approach to life around one question: what if we only had five years?

It's the reason they walked away from the comfortable version of life and went after the one that actually meant something.

Not someday. Now.

Luke Richmond hit rock bottom in London. Lost, addicted, disconnected from who he used to be.

He flew to Thailand to train Muay Thai, using the pain to drown out the voice telling him he wasn't enough.

Him and his wife Elise built a philosophy around one idea: live like you've only got five years left. It's what gave them the courage to walk away from a normal life.

That mindset took him to the top of the Seven Summits, across the Gobi Desert, and into the record books rowing the Atlantic.

This isn't really a story about mountains. It's about what happens when you stop waiting for the right time.

It's rarely the world that beats you. It's the voice in your own head.

Luke Richmond hit rock bottom with addiction, then flew to Thailand and started training Muay Thai. Not just to get fit, but to shut up the voice telling him he wasn't enough.

Nobody's coming to quiet that voice for you.

He left the army and almost lost himself trying to figure out what came next.

Then he asked himself one question that changed everything:
"If I only had one shot at an exceptional life, how would I live it?"

SOME EXPERIENCES STAY WITH YOU.

In 2023, @grant__axe_rawlinson and @luke_olocadventures set off from Phuket on an extraordinary 2,200 km human powered journey across the Bay of Bengal, spending 23 days at sea.

And this is some of what they saw along the way.
Plastic. Bottles. Polystyrene. Rubbish, even far out at sea.

Experiences like this are a powerful reminder of why action and education both matter.

Fast forward to today, and a new adventure is taking shape. This time, we’re paddling 125 km around Phuket and aiming to raise THB 1 million for @sustainable.maikhao , supporting their environmental work and helping bring a new Environmental Learning Centre to life.

Cleaning tackles what’s already there. Education can help change what comes next. 💙

That’s something worth paddling for.

And we need your help to get there.

Please donate. Every contribution, big or small, takes us closer to THB 1 million. 🌊

Learned to Paraglide
Wrote some books
Took a silly boat around Cape York
Climbed Parinacota and Sajama and flew off the top
Cycled across New Zealand with our gliders
Paraglided through the Dolomites and France
Climbed Cholatse
Climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya and safaried our in way between
Kayaked across the Bass Strait

Hi everyone. Reminder - I will be putting on a free event at the Eaglehawk Neck Community Hall today. I’ll be sharing some stories and lessons from the last 15 years of expeditions. It’s a free event, no bookings needed and there is capacity for 60-70 so should be room for everyone. My talk with slides and video runs for about 90 minutes with question time. Any queries beforehand feel free to message me directly. Have a top day. Luke by @luke_olocadventures

Before & After

Who needs Ozempic, all you have to do to lose weight is climb a mountain.

93 kilograms before Lenin Peak, and 84.5 Kilograms afterwards.

Altitude, sleep deprivation, and poor nutrition all while trying to perform at peak physical output is a very catabolic endeavour.

Almost all of my weight loss is muscle and now the rebuild begins. I know I will gain it back in a relatively short period of time, but damn it hurts to lose it so quick ;)

However, no matter the physical state I end up in, the experience of climbing a 7000 metre mountain and flying down to base camp, far outweighs the loss of aesthetics. I just might not do it again for a while.
