I'm currently on a 10 hour bus ride to the middle of North Dakota for my day job. I felt like drawing an alien, and this is what I've got so far. ✍️😁

This is one of my favorite recent sketches. I love the idea of a hidden giant just below our feet.

Sometimes I just start drawing a creature with absolutely no plan.

This one isn’t finished yet, but I’m liking where it’s headed. I’ll come back and finish it in another video.

What do you think so far?

Some kind of sea monster - I didn't really go into this one with a plan, I just started drawing. 😁

A quick sketch while I was waiting for someone to show up for a Zoom meeting. They never showed up, but I got the sketch finished at least. 😆

Sometimes I just have an urge to draw slime monsters. 😁🤮

Another one from the drawing prompt book.

This time I actually remembered to take a “before” photo (swipe to see it). The prompt gave me a guy with the top of his head opened up, and I had to figure out what was coming out of it.

So naturally, I went with a giant brain-headed creature with tentacles.

These are fun because the starting point is so simple, but the finished drawing can go in a completely different direction depending on what you see in it.

New Instagram account just for my artwork. This one started from a drawing prompt book.

I forgot to take a “before” photo, but the page only gave me part of the outline of the big fish, including the anglerfish’s lure, and I had to decide what the rest of the creature would become.

Apparently my answer was: more teeth, more weird anatomy, and one very unlucky little fish.

I always like prompts like this because they give you just enough of a starting point without telling you where the drawing has to go.
