I’ve recently learnt to not chase perfection in ideas, since comparison is so often the thief of joy. Something I wish I had learnt sooner. Instead, it’s more efficient to simply start small and only with intentions that will help align you with moving towards your greater vision. I’ve had a small passion for around 4 years, which has now finally become my way of starting this process.

最近、アイデアにおいて完璧を追い求めすぎないことを学びました。なぜなら、比較は喜びを奪ってしまうことが多いからです。その代わりに、大きなビジョンへと繋がる意図を持って、小さく始める方がずっと効率的だと気づきました。約4年間あたためてきた小さな情熱が、ようやく動き出すきっかけになりました。

Originally it began as my own personal exploration of sound and experiencing music in its purist form - or rather - as it was once intended to be listened to.

もともとは、音を純粋に体験し、本来の形で音楽を聴くことへの個人的な探求から始まったものでした。

Now I guess @ola_sei is my small effort to bring this ritual into the lives of others that enjoy maintaining the integrity of natural sound or just listening to music from a high quality system.

今では「Ola Sei」という形で、自然な音の持つ魅力や、質の高い音楽体験を大切にする方々へ、この ritual を届ける小さな試みになっています。

Analog technology inherently uses materials that will last - ones seemingly lost in the flow of time - contrasting with products these days that seem ultimately wasteful.

アナログ技術は、時代に流されることのない、長く使える素材で作られており、今の大量消費とは対照的で、それがとても尊いと感じています。

The world can and needs to continue to nostalgically embrace simplicity and longevity in consumption moving forward. We often witness that everything old can be new again. I’m aware this idea does not revolutionize anything in any way. But I hope that my learnings can help the intimate charm and natural beauty of sound to become a little easier for everyone to experience.

これからの世界は、シンプルさや長く使える価値を、懐かしさと共に再評価していくべきだと信じています。昔のものが、今また新しくなることはよくあることです。このアイデアが何かを革命的に変えるわけではないけれど、音の持つ自然な美しさと魅力を、少しでも多くの人が感じられるようになることを願っています。

I’m hoping it comes to fruition very soon and I’m super proud and looking forward to sharing it all this year!

I have always found the color green calming ~ and whilst living in Kyoto, finding a visual language for Ola Sei through color was a priority.

Uguisuiro (鶯色) is a dusky, yellowish-green color named after the feathers of Japanese bush warbler. It is a celebrated songbird in Kyoto, known for its distinct call that symbolizes spring.

I designed this pair with a tatami tweed grille in the spring, after the feeling of walking through a moss covered garden and hearing those birds in mind.
