I stumbled upon this when searching for places to explore in San Diego, and found that you can even access it via trolley!! Making it super accessible.

The only way to build YOUR dream life is to take risks

Life isn’t fair, we all have different starting points & places, some way better than others

But to believe your life has to stay the same because it’s “always” been this way is doing yourself a disservice

And for me, being gay & neurodivergent, I struggled a lot with identify & figuring out who I want to be

And a big part of that was from changing my environment, and putting myself in uncomfortable situations… time and time again, so much so that I literally feel like I can do anything

And now I live in San Diego, my favorite city in the US

Trying the famous An’s Hatmakers in Del Mar, San Diego 🍦

I drove 40 minutes for this because the team behind it runs An’s Dry Cleaning in North Park, voted USA Today readers’ best ice cream shop in America in 2024. This is their Del Mar spot, and the name is a nod to the racetrack, where everyone dresses up in fancy hats for the races.

I absolutely loved the gelato. Worth the hype

It’s in Del Mar Plaza and the menu rotates with the seasons.

Bioluminescence all around in Mission Bay, San Diego

This is the best bioluminescent I’ve ever seen in my life… and I somehow live 5 minutes away!!

If you are hoping to see the bioluminescent, do it sooner rather than later. It is no guarantee how long it will last. Also you will want to paddleboard/take a surf board because it isn’t great near the coast.

Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore

Moving to San Diego was a bit terrifying… I didn’t know almost anyone, I wasn’t sure if I’d fit in, find things to do, and if it was simply too far from home

But at the same time, I had an equal level of excitement for the change & unknown. After all, St. Louis will always be there, and I can always move back in with my parents 😂 (maybe?)

But I’ve truly been living my best life out in San Diego & meeting some incredible people. And it’s only been 4 months.

The reality of moving to a new city isn’t all rainbows and sunshine

Picking up everything you own and moving across the country is an incredibly brave and awesome thing, and if you have the opportunity I highly recommend it

Your hometown will always be an option, but leaving won’t always be

And I have grown & learned so much about myself through this process, gained a lot of confidence, and have absolutely 0 regrets, living my best life here

But there is absolutely a cost to moving to a new city to “restart” or try something new. And there will be times that are lonely, or you miss home, etc

That’s very normal and expected, but for me it is so worth it.

The question that took 20 years to realize the answer 🏳️‍🌈

I spent way too long trying to figure out a way to change who I am, instead of embracing who I am and realizing I’m made exactly the right way.

Because now I can focus my time on things that actually matter and can help make the world a better place

Making friends as an adult can be tough, but pickleball makes it so much easier

Pickleball is incredibly social, low barrier to entry, and keeps you outside and off your phone

Especially after recently moving to San Diego and trying to make new friends!

And to play, you need a paddle! Thank you @Arronax pickleball for letting me try your KVL005 paddle. I love it, and use it whenever I play now.
