on the bright side, i saved a lot of money on haircuts ✂️

long, rambling reflections below…

i am blessed.

i am blessed to have had a form of cancer with a very high survival rate for people my age. and that someone close to me - my mom - fought the same form of cancer when she was about my age and beat it, giving me hope for my outcome. (though she’d had stage 3 hodgkin’s lymphoma, while mine was stage 4 so i would often brag that my cancer was bigger than hers…)

i am blessed to have an immensely supportive family around me. mark was always at the ready to sit in my room and keep me company when i wasn’t feeling my best and john paul always came up with new movies and shows for us to watch to keep away the boredom of my downtime when recovering. to my grandma “nonny” for all the advice and prayers and my radel grandparents who came in from buffalo every two weeks to watch the boys while we were at treatments (and bring some @timhortons as a special treat) and my cousins, aunts, and uncles who flooded my phone with support.

i am blessed to have amazing friends, from both my old school and new hartford. of course, i have to shout-out @a7durr who shaved his head a week before prom once i’d lost all my hair. (special thanks to his date, @ilana.mccarthy who gave him permission to do so.) and huge thanks to ilana and @fazzarito for spreading the #limeforluke movement throughout the community! (and to @lights.camera.learn for coming up with the idea and the bracelets!) we raised over $20k for other kids with cancer and their families!

i am blessed to be with my incredible girlfriend, @alexa.battista. i know she definitely likes me for my personality because “4-months-into-chemotherapy” is not usually a look girls are after. before we were even dating, lex baked ginger snap cookies for me because she’d seen online that ginger can help relieve nausea for people undergoing chemo. that’s just the kind of person she is. thoughtful, empathetic, and immeasurably kind.

i am blessed to now be in remission. too many kids never made it to this place. life is a blessing. love is a blessing. so thank you all for your love. i will never forget your kindness to me.

excited to share i’m joining @meidastouch full-time as the executive producer of “scott macfarlane reports”

i’ll be moving down to washington later this summer for that role & to become the network’s first-ever white house correspondent!
