EMR ‘The Journey’ . Directed by @alexdunningdirector @outsider_tv . Lots of moving parts on this one…Shooting on a moving train with a full crew in a compact space and to a strict timetable whilst also trying to keep lighting consistent. I also trialed out the Canon C50 for fast moving on the fly cutaways, full frame and you can put a PL mount on it. Great piece of kit. Texture . This video seems to get referenced by clients regularly(last time was a few weeks back) even though it was shot nearly 10 years ago, and quite often they ask about these texture shots. . I shot these for a music video for Amy Macdonald ‘Down by the Water’ directed by @favcolblk in Sheppy. . I also haven’t shot Anamorphic in a while and missing it, these days everything seems to have to be cut into have a million crops so its safer to shoot spherical, unless its you have a director who is happy to fight for it. . I shot these on a Panavision MAP-55, which has crazy good minimums and I fell head over the heels for this lens and rinsed it as much as could on as many projects as possible but haven’t used it on a anything for a while now. . Any directors got the minerals to throw caution to the wind, forget the social crops and shoot anamorphic on their next shoot? If so I would love to shoot on these again… . @craigcoole on the edit and @vicparkercolour on the grade 👌 by @lukescullydop

@jessicasweetmanmusic ‘Rise Up’ featuring @scandalous_13 A selection of my fav clips (watch the full vid on YouTube) . Directed by @favcolblk . An awesome experience to react and move with Emmet as he went 100% on each scene. There seemed to be a natural synergy where I would happen to find myself in the right place at the right time, with the right light. I love this way of film making, roughly choreographed, with the location lit in a way that we can move wherever we want, handheld with a wide lens and just let the magic happen. As a director of photography I find my self concentrating on lighting and shot composition rather than acting, but this shoot really made me realise just how important the actor is to a DP. Rare also to have such talent on a music promo. Props too to Jessica who also smashed her performance as well braving the cold, wind and smelly car parks with zero complaints. The track is a banger also. Especially the 33.333fps D&B version 😉 . Alexa LF/ Canon FD’s AND credit also to @favcolblk for the cutaways on his Sigma too! (First shots in this sequence) .
