POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
And with that, I have another band trip under my belt, this time to Chicago!
Instagram recently added a Multiple Captions feature, so you bet a yapper like me will be using it to its fullest extent. If you wanna read (which I doubt it lol) feel free or just enjoy the pretty pictures. Chances are this is like the fifth Chicago post you’ve seen in the last day 🥀

While it’s not pictured here, one thing I loved about the city was its architecture. There was a great mix of modern, Art Deco, Contemporary, Brutalist, Industrial, and just unique structures. While it doesn’t hold a candle to Barcelona, it was still awesome just to walk down a street and gawk at the buildings. I did notice a lot more Doric columns than Ionic columns, and hardly any Corinthian, which was interesting.

The area surrounding the Planetarium was so cool, it was called like the Museum Campus or something. The architecture was beautiful and I would’ve loved to just wander around it for hours…

Some part of a lander! Hard to get a good photo cuz the mirrors but I tried.

A model of the solar system, circa 1900 I think.

Biiiiig telescope.

Overall, I’d give this museum (Adler Planetarium) a solid 7/10, it was a bit small but from the sound of it it thrived off of its various shows which of course I didn’t have time to see. I would like to go back and explore it in depth if I can someday.

At this point I must admit that, while it was a bit lonely being forced to wander around by myself, it was still a fun afternoon. Chicago seemed to be very forgiving to a solo traveler, much more than New York. There I was just depressed man, but here I felt like I was just wandering about. Honestly, overall the city just felt more welcoming and calm. I’d say I like it much more than New York, just since it’s not as intense. And I did catch some people to walk back to the pier, for better or for worse. I did have to stop them from getting run over or jumping off a bridge though… this is why I’m only the Junior Chaperone lol

California’s gonna be a nightmare…

Apparently this is taxonomically known as a “water chicken.” Thanks Mya..?

Never actually went on the pier, but I at least managed to see the Ferri taken in Chicago, Illinois by @luketinnster

Relatively tame summer all things considered, but I still loved every second from it.
It was interesting learning what “work from home” can truly be like, and with all the time I’ve spent here, my apartment sure feels like it lol
Went to two whole concerts, doubling my total I’ve been to. Got to see some of my favorite artists and both times had to fight through the rain. Also went to Canada for the YOASOBI concert. Official review? 7/10, felt like America but off and the roads were buns in the rain (but smooth otherwise).
My aunt got new farm cats and it’s been funny watching her slowly transform into a cat person over these past few years. When we got them she had my uncle do a swat search of the barn to seal it up. Had a fun time hanging out with the Iowa fam too. And the Ohio fam, with a quick vacation to Amish country (the best place in Ohio). So glad I got to see my friends on my week back too, it was great catching up with you.
Time to see what this next semester brings. It’s gonna be a weird one. I’m gonna find out if my world of code and algorithms can apply to music, one way or another.

1 vs 21 what am I doing I should’ve picked a different instrument 😭 (jk I love my section) by @luketinnster

previous-semester me did me dirty, 23 credit hours is not for the week
final tally: 8 A’s and 2 B’s
Honestly can’t believe I am already halfway done with college; feels like yesterday I just got here. This semester went from one of the worst to one of the best, just like that. It’s amazing how that can happen, huh? To be honest, I did not have high hopes going into this semester, but I am glad it did not turn out that way. I found new friends and experiences unlike anything I could’ve imagined, along with getting to know old ones even better. It truly was hectic and I’m sure I’ve taken years off my life with the amount of energy drinks I’ve consumed, so thank you to everyone who put up with me during these past few weeks lol. Can’t wait to see what next semester brings, to see how this growth will continue into the future. Challenges await unlike any I have faced next fall, so I am waiting to see how I will overcome them - both nervously and with excitement. For now I am going to take a 2-day long nap as I go through the world’s worst caffeine detox… taken in Ohio Northern University by @luketinnster

Ted appreciation post since we got him 11 years ago yesterday and it’s my account and I can do what I want

Love this furball to death, unfortunately I don’t have any photos of small Ted so he just looks like a big hairy blob lol. He’s still cute either way. Here’s to (hopefully!) another 11 years with my awesome cat by @luketinnster

According to DegreeWorks I’m 71% done with my degree. According to John K. Estell however, I still have 5 more semesters here. So we’ll see how that goes.

Lowkey felt like a filler semester tbh, I mean yeah I made some sick memories but there was a lot of depressingly low lows lol. I feel like the most important thing I learned would be to not constantly rely on others for happiness, to learn to be happy doing the things I want by myself, if no one else is there. My solo escapade in New York honestly made me seriously consider solo travel post-college.

Met some dope new people as well, it’s weird to think that some people I didn’t even know existed a semester ago are now some of my closest buds on campus. Life is crazy man. I can’t wait to see what next semester will bring, despite it probably being my most difficult here, in terms of sheer course load. For the first time in a while, while I know the dawn in nowhere in sight, I’m content to sit and stare at the stars.

Also, if you’re reading this far, pro tip: never volunteer to be Klondike in 95° heat. The inside of that bear is stuffy as all heck. taken in Ohio Northern University by @luketinnster

New York round 2 I guess. Overall, 5/10 trip; sights were a solid 8/10, experience was a 2/10, so they average out lol.

Sunday would have to be the highlight of this trip for me. It was truly a test of independence, as it was the first time I got to plan an itinerary and execute it all by my lonesome (for the most part). I can say I’m a lot more interested in solo travel after traversing one of the biggest cities in the world by myself. Operation Mincemeat (also on Sunday) has to be one of my new favorite musicals it’s honestly in my top 5. The comedy was on point, the songs were amazing, and the actors were superb (not to mention the fact the cast had 5 main people but like 20-ish parts so each actor played several different characters). 10/10 would highly recommend if you ever get the chance to see it.
Saturday was absolutely miserable, no way around it. Think my piccolo died in the rain lol and all I did was rot on Ellis Island for three hours.
I think what hurt me the most about this trip was how isolating it was and how it was entirely my fault. For those of you who put up with me during it, genuinely thank you. It means a lot. Walking around the High Line would have to be the most fitting conclusion to this trip possible, mostly because all I could think of is how much I wish my dad was there to see it with me.
For what could be my last band trip (for health or personal reasons), it was an experience for sure lol. Goodbye New York, until we meet again. And we will meet again. I need to get the third color of Hoptimist to join Bumble and Albert lmao by @luketinnster

Well, before I knew it, there’s another summer in the books. Time for the grind to begin again.
To be honest, for most of the summer I was disappointed, since it was looking like all I would be doing was work. And that pretty much did happen. I felt envious, with my dad leaving for trip after trip for Christian Educators, while I was stuck at home caring for my ailing grandfather (who almost kicked the bucket on the day of my physics final, fun fact). It just didn’t feel fair. It felt like my life had no meaning. I would wake up, go to work, come back, sleep, and repeat for weeks on end. It felt like each day blended into each other. But looking back, there was meaning. There was purpose. Just, not in the way I was expecting. There was no grandiose summer, filled with action-packed adventures, but rather intense, heart-pumping rush hours with my friends from work. There were no parties, but rather a fun time watching the fireworks on the 4th of July after working 14 hours. There were no vacations with friends, but rather a nice get-together the night before I left that honestly, made the entire time worth it. While most people would call my summer lame, in retrospect, I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
I would also like to shoutout my awesome section in band for making these past two weeks a really fun time (although I doubt they’ll read this far lol), it wouldn’t have been the same without you all, and I’m looking forward to an amazing season performing with you. While I’m nervous about what this year will bring, I, at the very least, have some cherished memories to look back on as I push forward, further into this new chapter of my life. What awaits at the turn of the page is anyone’s guess. But I sure am excited.
P.S. Sorry I couldn’t include more band pictures, they would’ve cropped people out and I would’ve felt bad 😞
P.P.S. If anyone’s reading this, thank you for reading this far :) you are truly a cool cucumber 🥒 taken in Dairy Queen Grill & Chill - Galion by @luketinnster

A little late to the party, but that’s year 1 of 4 already done. Honestly, I can’t believe it went that quick. Time is a scary thing lol

When I went off to college, I’m not sure what I expected. I had this idealized concept in my head of a perfect place where nothing went wrong. Obviously unrealistic (note that the year prior I could probably call the worst year of my life so my desperation for something “new” was at an all-time high lol). Of course, life isn’t all sunshine and roses and I found that out quick. Despite all of that, somehow I found people that sort-of tolerated me? I think, anyways. Huge shoutout to them and the many more humans whom I have encountered in a manner that simply made my day a little brighter. The people in this post are only a handful of the wonderful souls I have met. If last year was defined by despair then this one would have to be defined by resilience. Because, by most metrics, this year was still an absolute disaster for me lmao. But still, there’s something beautiful about that. About living while the world falls apart around you. About putting on a smile instead of a scowl. Or at least trying to. It’s the thought that counts, I think. Anyways, I’ve already wrote way more than I intended (not that anyone reads this far lol) so, to sum up, thank you everyone I met this year for helping me in some way or another. I’ve learned so much about humanity and myself, and I couldn’t have done it without you all. But there’s still more to come; I have yet to fully recover from last year, to confront my flute performance demon (?), and to finally finish my formula on what a friend is, because I still don’t know. I can’t wait to try to complete these tasks, and many more in these final 3 years. taken in Ohio Northern University by @luketinnster

Happy Easter!
I don’t normally post a lot. In fact, two such posts back to back are essentially unheard of for me (excluding my Europe posts but Instagram didn’t have 20-picture posts back then…). For that, I am sorry. Also, while I’m not sorry for, I must address the subject matter. Simply put, I felt moved to write about. How much of it you believe is up to you, if you choose to believe it at all. I doubt most will. Most people already think of me as weird; this isn’t terribly out of character. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to attempt to answer them. Enjoy this Easter Day (especially if you’re still reading this far lol)!

PS, NEVER try writing anything just using Insta’s label tool. It was a nightmare to format all of that. Honestly took longer than writing. Alright, that’s it I’m going to bed. Judge me if you wish. Idk. Good night. by @luketinnster

Idk, just figured I’d make a small post commemorating pretty much my main two activities coming to an “end.” Like, I’m still doing stuff in them afterwards, it’s just the two major events for both Polar Robotics and Gospel Ensemble are done now. Both of these clubs honestly are amazing and I’ve met so many wonderful people in them. They truly have helped me come out of my comfort zone and embody what I thought college would be all about. Also, Ted wishes everyone a happy Easter holiday, from my little family to yours! taken in Ohio Northern University by @luketinnster

Today I would be pleased to announce that our youngest family member, Theodore (Teddy) Maxwell Tinnermeier turns 11. Or do we think. Since Ted Bed was adopted, we don’t really know when he was born, but the veterinarian said it was a good average. Live it up Ted. Best younger brother 😎 and a wonderful pillow to cry on lol
Yeesh he’s like the age of most of the kids I loose to on bedwars… taken in Galion, Ohio by @luketinnster
