Spent a wonderful night in Bristol with my best mates from school.

We talk most days.
We’re still the same gang we were at 17… just now 47.

One thing really struck me.
Every one of us is happy, energised, and genuinely enjoying this stage of life - deep into middle age and very much up for it.

A few shared truths:
1. All of us did A-levels… and none of us were academics.
If you saw the grade roster, you’d probably laugh.
2. Every single one of us has a career we genuinely enjoy.
3. Five out of six are entrepreneurs.
The sixth is big in software.

Same school. Same era. Same very average grades.
Very different paths but a shared thread of curiosity, confidence, and energy. We are alive.

Message to younger people (and maybe anxious parents):

Grades matter less than people think.

Personality, passion, and the willingness to back yourself compound far more over time.
