Galactic City 🌌✨

La Palma, Canary Islands.

This composition was created as a panorama using a 50mm lens. The panorama consists of 8 panels, with each panel made up of 6 tracked exposures. The foreground was captured separately.

The fun thing about shooting at 50mm is the natural perspective it gives. You can really see how massive the Milky Way appears above the landscape.

The sky was stacked and processed in PixInsight and Photoshop, then blended with the foreground to create the final composition.

A sky full of shooting stars ✨🌠

I spent an amazing week on one of the darkest islands in Europe — La Palma. For an astrophotographer, being under skies like these is simply heaven. With the naked eye, you can see the entire Milky Way arch stretching across the sky.

My buddy and I decided to focus on the Perseids, which meant missing the total solar eclipse. A difficult choice, but spending these nights under such incredible dark skies made it more than worth it.

This image is a stacked, tracked and blended composition. The meteors were photographed on the night before the Perseid peak and during the peak night, and blended into the final image.

A floating castle in fairytale conditions. ✨

Le Mont-Saint-Michel is one of the most iconic landmarks in France. Perched on a tidal island off the Normandy coast, its medieval abbey often looks like something straight out of a fairytale.

For me, it's one of the most photogenic places in the world. The soft landscape, changing tides, and magical atmosphere make it an unforgettable destination for photographers.

These are the kind of conditions you never want to miss.🌫️🌅

Fog has been rare this year, so when the forecast finally looked promising,This morning I set my alarm. I arrived around 5:15 AM, knowing I'd have to leave again at 6:00 AM for work.

It was a short visit, but moments like this are always worth it. I'm glad I got out of bed, otherwise I would have missed this unforgettable morning.

Dutch severe weather conditions⚡

Last weekend's severe weather setup was incredible. A big thank you to @rick_bekker and @gijs.de.reijke for inviting me to join this chase.

Our goal was simple: photograph lightning, search for storm structure, and hopefully capture a shelf cloud around sunrise. We started in Beesd, where we photographed lightning against a beautiful sunset. From there, we headed to Soesterberg to intercept a supercell and witness some amazing lightning bolts.

To finish the chase, we drove all the way to Bourtange for the expected shelf cloud. Unfortunately, the storm moved much faster than anticipated, so we ended up photographing it during blue hour instead of sunrise. Despite that, the shelf cloud was still an incredible sight.

It was a very long chase—I finally got home around 9 AM—but it was absolutely worth it. Besides capturing some unforgettable moments, I learned a lot from the two experienced storm chasers. ⚡🌩️

When the sunlight disappears, new lights begin to shine ✨

A magical summer night surrounded by hundreds of fireflies.

The fireflies in this photo are actually glow-worm beetles. The larger, wingless females remain hidden in the grass, using their glow to attract flying males on warm summer nights. Around the longest days of the year, their tiny dancing lights transform the forest into a truly magical place.

In the Netherlands, these fascinating insects are quite rare and can only be found in a handful of suitable habitats, mainly in the south-eastern part of the country.

This image is a stack of 320 photos taken with a short exposure time. The fireflies in the foreground were carefully blended to recreate the magical atmosphere I experienced that night.

What started as a storm chase turned into a day I won’t forget anytime soon.

After tracking storms across the country, I eventually ended up near Wouw, where this incredible shelf cloud unfolded across the horizon. The scale and structure of the storm were simply breathtaking.

As if that wasn’t enough, the day had one final surprise in store. Back near home, the sky above the Broekmolen transformed into a surreal mix of fire and ice during sunset.

Some days, everything just comes together perfectly.

Sometimes the best photo opportunities happen when you're already on your way home.✨

After a night chasing sea sparkle at Katwijk, I noticed patches of ground fog forming on the way home around 4 AM.

Something told me to grab the drone and keep going.

A few hours later, the sun rose above the mist and rewarded the patience with one of the most beautiful mornings I've witnessed in a long time.
