***LONG POST DISCLAIMER***

Alright folks this is long overdue but, time for a trip in the way back machine. There was a video that we think Tina Pierce Racing posted at rmrw 2016 where they were checking out this ratty malibu with a traditional sbc turbo combo. I instantly fell in love with that car.
Fast forward to drag week 2017. Rolling down the highway to 131 I see Mark Sussino siiiick monte carlo and about drove off the road in awe. The only thing that saved me was catching in the distance a tall ass black trailer and that same malibu. I was bummed I missed it at the track.
In 2019 I got a call someone needed an emergency copilot and finally got the chance to see honk in person and meet Rick.
Its funny because anytime ive talked to him he was just a normal dude and he had no idea I was meeting one of my heros. 10yr old me in my head had posters of cars like honk and the champaign express on my walls instead of super cars lol
So needless to say when I got a message from Rick about swapping the car from a solid to a hydraulic roller combo I about fell off my chair. Then the fear set in. A car that can consistently run a number, and with so many years of data behind it, would be blatantly obvious if I missed on the cam. But we talked, I collected the data, turned on my inner rain man and got him a new valvetrain spec'd out.
The night Rick fired the car I was getting messages about how quiet and great the cam sounded, but the skeptic in me asked him to report back after a few hits and let me know how the old fuel table was reacting to the changes. On paper the old vs new cam had some large differences.
First pass it was off a few numbers but mph was right there. The 60' was way lazy compared to the pass at yellow bullet we were refferencing against, and there was a bigger head on the car and smaller rockers so I was becoming more content with cam.
Fast forward to Sick 66. Day 1 rick messages me his time slip. He was right on top of his et cap and said hes harldy leaning on the combo. The car was quiet running down the road and he didnt have to baby sit his valve train anymore, and is making gobs of power.

Ive been watching cars dip down the hill at Road Atlanta since my youth. Today I got to watch a guy im lucky enough to call a friend, rip a car down that hill I had a hand in. Just unreal.

Wasn't the showing we were hoping for but @christiancotrone and team is the definition of the X factor and round 2 is coming soon!!

So proud of what you guys have accomplished!!!

First of its kind. Lukey B's Speed & Service 408 LS complete build done for a customer.
Short block done by Mike Lough Racing Engines with all Howards Cams and racing components rotating parts.
Competition Products Power Products 270 cnc heads and a complete Howards valvetrain. With 11.2:1 compression and a little bit of camshaft this engine should be a great driver and make well over the 500hp mark on pump fuel. by @lukeyb_07

As a kid reading Super Street mag, watching people like Matt Field help pioneer the sport, if you told me one day id be working with that team, id have either fainted or laughed in your face. Yet, here we are. Credit goes to @christiancotrone and his talent both on and off track to make things like this possible.

I never had any direct connection with this man, but that doesnt take away the fact he helped lay the groundwork for my career. Someone in the camshaft Industry can only dream they make the impression that Iskenderian did on our world. by @lukeyb_07
